TL;DR: In this paper, a 2,4-Epivaliolamine was obtained in the culture of Streptomyces hygroscopicus var. limoneus under aerobic conditions, and the physical and chemical properties of the compound were described.
Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:2,4-Epivaliolamine shown by the formula or its salt. USE:Useful as alpha-glucosidase inhibitor useful for a drug for hyperglycemia, for various kinds of diseases caused by hyperglycoplasmia, a food additive, and an additive for animal feed. Suppressing the metabolism of carbohydrate. PROCESS:Streptomyces hygroscopicus var. limoneus belonging to the genus streptomyces is cultivated under aerobic conditions, and a compound shown by the formula is obtained in the culture. The physical and chemical properties of the compound are as follows. Appearance: hygroscopic white powder, values of elementary analysis (molecular formula): C7H15NO5.H2O, specific rotatory power:[alpha] D+18.2 deg. (C=1, H2O), solubility: soluble in water, ethanol, etc., slightly soluble or insoluble in ethanol, acetone, etc., color reaction: positive in ninhydrin reaction, and reaction by Greig-Leaback reagent, negative in naphthoresorcinol.sulfuric acid reaction.

TL;DR: In this article, a hydrolase to be determined is made to act on a substrate having at least one thioester linkage, and the resultant thiol compound and an indicator are put to color reaction, thus determining the objective enzyme in association with the intensity of the color developed.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To carry out the determination of the title enzyme quickly and in high sensitivity in a simple operation without the need for any special or expensive instruments by making a hydrolase to be determined act on a specific substrate and by making a color reaction between the resultant thiol compound and an indicator. CONSTITUTION:A hydrolase to be determined is made to act on a substrate having at least one thioester linkage, and the resultant thiol compound and an indicator are put to color reaction, thus determining the objective enzyme in association with the intensity of the color developed. It is preferable that said indicator be a compound of the formula (X is alkylamino, arylamino or sulfonate group; R is H or aromatic group) [esp. 5,5'-dithiobis(2-nitrobenzoic acid)] and the determination be made through absorbance measurement.
