TL;DR: Simulation work is reported indicating that packet reservation multiple access (PRMA) allows a variety of information sources to share the same wireless access channel and achieves a promising combination of voice quality and bandwidth efficiency.
Abstract: Simulation work is reported indicating that packet reservation multiple access (PRMA) allows a variety of information sources to share the same wireless access channel. Some of the sources, such as speech terminals, are classified as periodic and others, such as signaling, are classified as random. Packets from all sources contend for access to channel time slots. When a periodic information terminal succeeds in gaining access, it reserves subsequent time slots for uncontested transmission. Both computer simulations and a listening test reveal that PRMA achieves a promising combination of voice quality and bandwidth efficiency. >

TL;DR: In this article, two power allocation schemes are proposed to minimize the system outage probability, based on complete channel state information and channel statistics, respectively, and a selection scheme where only one "best" relay node is chosen to assist in the transmission is proposed.
Abstract: -We consider an Amplify-and-Forward cooperative diversity system where a source node communicates with a destination node with the help of one or more relay nodes The conventional system model assumes all relay nodes participate, with the available channel and power resources equally distributed over all nodes This approach being clearly sub-optimal, we first present two power allocation schemes to minimize the system outage probability, based on complete channel state information and channel statistics, respectively We further show that the proposed optimal power allocation methods minimize system symbol error rate as well Next, we propose a selection scheme where only one "best" relay node is chosen to assist in the transmission We show that the selection-AF scheme maintains full diversity order, and at reasonable power levels has significantly better outage behavior and average throughput than the conventional all-participate scheme or that with optimal power allocation Finally we combine power allocation and selection to further improve performance

TL;DR: A transmission scheme for exploiting diversity given by two transmit antennas when neither the transmitter nor the receiver has access to channel state information and requires no channel state side information at the receiver is presented.
Abstract: We present a transmission scheme for exploiting diversity given by two transmit antennas when neither the transmitter nor the receiver has access to channel state information. The new detection scheme can use equal energy constellations and encoding is simple. At the receiver, decoding is achieved with low decoding complexity. The transmission provides full spatial diversity and requires no channel state side information at the receiver. The scheme can be considered as the extension of differential detection schemes to two transmit antennas.

TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for wireless communication between a plurality of subscriber units and a base station, the base station communicating information signals from an originating source to a destination subscriber unit over a channel at an assigned one of a plurality OF frequencies using repetitive time frames, each said time frame comprising a sequence of time slots.
Abstract: A system and method for wireless communication between a plurality of subscriber units and a base station, the base station communicating information signals from an originating source to a destination subscriber unit over a channel at an assigned one of a plurality of frequencies using repetitive time frames, each said time frame comprising a sequence of time slots. The channel is defined as having the same one or more time slots from the sequence of time slots in one or more of the time frames. The base station includes a central processing unit capable of assigning a duration of time for the information signals being sent to the destination subscriber unit. The duration equals the duration of one or more time slots in the same frame. The central processing unit maintains a memory of which time slots of each time frame have been assigned and provides the time slot assignment, and therefore channel assignment, by consulting said memory. The system includes a multiplexer for multiplexing the information signals onto the assigned channel; and a transmitter for transmitting the information signals to the destination subscriber unit using the assigned channel.
