TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a representation of the CONOPs (concept of operations) that describes the functionality expected on orbit and coordinate with the software programmers as well as the staff to set robust functionality.
Abstract: : Solar cells are the primary energy-collection agents used onboard spacecraft converting energy from the sun into electricity. With solar cells being the main source of power for satellites, it is important to know how they operate and degrade when exposed to the harsh environment of low earth orbit. The objective of this thesis is to estimate the solar cell degradation that will be experienced on orbit due to radiation. This linked with the mission of the NPS-SCAT providing a quantitative measurement on orbit of how solar cells degrade over time can reduce risk of expensive national satellite by providing real-life solar cells exposure to threats of the space environment. A secondary goal of this thesis is to build and present a representation of the CONOPs (concept of operations) that describes the functionality expected on orbit. Coordination with the software programmers as well as the staff to set robust functionality is the goal for the CONOPs. This software package will be programmed into the two 1U flight certified CubeSats as their standard programming once implementation and testing have been completed.

TL;DR: This article has tried to compare a few documents which reflect the main obedience, according to their temporal locations along a project life cycle, their managerial aims and their typical contents, and proposes a model of a unifying document that could be satisfying to all.
Abstract: If the Abernathy-Utterback model about the innovation of technology was applied to the approaches and methodologies of project management, it would be clear that, five decades after the birth of modern project management, the domain would persist in a “fluid phase”, where approaches are still numerous and no dominant design or particular methodology really emerged yet. Comparing the many standards and methodologies one by one would be certainly useful. However, the task is ambitious and can only reasonably be undertaken in bits and pieces. In this article, we are interested in the only artefact that initialize a project: according to the authors and obedience, this one takes different names: project charter, project mandate, project proposal, roadmap, project mission statement, project brief or statement of work (SoW). System engineering also promotes two additional types of documents: ConOps (concept of operations), replaced in 2010 by the OpsCon (operational concept) or OCD (operational concept document). First, we have tried to compare a few documents which reflect the main obedience, according to their temporal locations along a project life cycle, their managerial aims and their typical contents. In a second step, we propose a model of a unifying document that could be satisfying to all. In any case, it is this artefact that the CERN Engineering Department promotes through a system engineering framework called openSE ( www.cern.ch/openSE ) to federate multidisciplinary contributions to the many programmes and projects on going at CERN.

Abstract: What would it take for undergraduate computer engineering and computer science programs to routinely produce graduates who can design computer systems that are assured to operate securely? To help answer that question, Syracuse University piloted the undergraduate Cyber Engineering Semester, which aimed to equip undergraduates with three key capabilities. The first was the ability to reason rigorously about security concepts of operations (ConOps). The second was the ability to employ security mechanisms as exemplified by Jerome Saltzer and Michael Schroeder's classic paper, "The Protection of Information in Computer Systems." The third was the ability to formally verify security ConOps and mechanisms using computer-assisted reasoning tools.

28 May 2018TL;DR: This paper will discuss the various aspects of implementation of the SMN architecture framework within the context of operations of various nodes equipped with the User Initiated Services (UIS) protocol, including development of a ClientServer architecture in which space based Clients can create links with ground based Servers to negotiate passes with ground stations or contacts with the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite fleet.
Abstract: This paper will discuss the various aspects of implementation of the Space Mobile Network (SMN) architecture framework within the context of operations of various nodes equipped with the User Initiated Services (UIS) protocol. These aspects include development of a Client-Server architecture in which space based Clients can create links with ground based Servers to negotiate passes with ground stations or contacts with the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) fleet. A key feature of this concept is that Users may require a mix of low data rate continuous contacts with one or more of the TDRS fleet and sporadic contacts with ground stations as passes become available. SUDS (SMN User Demonstration Satellite) will have the availability of TDRS contacts, the U.S. Naval Academy's ground station, NASA Near Earth Network ground sites and others. This mode of operations must be integrated within the traditional mode of scheduling contacts and passes. Thus, SUDS fits into a heterogeneous network operations concept of operations.
