TL;DR: In this article, the authors present trends in active power line conditioners using PWM inverters, paying attention to practical applications, and present the largest one is 20 MVA, which was developed for flicker compensation for an arc furnace with the help of a shunt passive filter of 20 mVA.
Abstract: Active power line conditioners, which are classified into shunt and series ones, have been studied with the focus on their practical installation in industrial power systems. In 1986, a combined system of a shunt active conditioner of rating 900 kVA and a shunt passive filter of rating 6600 kVA was practically installed to suppress the harmonics produced by a large capacity cycloconverter for steel mill drives. More than one hundred shunt active conditioners have been operating properly in Japan. The largest one is 20 MVA, which was developed for flicker compensation for an arc furnace with the help of a shunt passive filter of 20 MVA. In this paper, the term of "active power line conditioners" is used instead of that of "active power filters" because active power line conditioners would cover a wider sense than active power filters. The primary intent of this paper is to present trends in active power line conditioners using PWM inverters, paying attention to practical applications. >

TL;DR: Eppen, Hanson, and Martin this paper argue that the best approach is to treat bundles not as marketing gimmicks but as new products, and they offer seven guidelines for creating competitive bundles and a framework for implementing them.
Abstract: It has long been a marketing axiom that customers buy bundles of satisfaction, not products. It follows, then, that they'll respond to certain combinations of products and services--air conditioners with free installation, combinations of software packages, or season tickets with parking privileges. The difficulty is in devising the bundles that both appeal to consumers and give cost or demand enhancing benefits to the producer. Eppen, Hanson, and Martin argue that the best approach is to treat bundles not as marketing gimmicks but as new products. They offer seven guidelines for creating competitive bundles and a framework for implementing them.

TL;DR: In this article, a case study focused on mobility patterns in one area of coastal California to exemplify one approach to dealing with it is presented, emphasizing the importance of considering the ways in which local conditions mediate the effects of global aspects of human adaptations and, second, the interactions between multiple causal factors as conditioners of technology.
Abstract: Recent research has identified a number of general factors with important effects on flaked-stone technology but has been less effective in solving the problem of examining these factors in specific archaeological contexts. This paper discusses this issue and presents a case study focused on mobility patterns in one area of coastal California to exemplify one approach to dealing with it. This study emphasizes the importance of considering, first, the ways in which local conditions mediate the effects of global aspects of human adaptations and, second, the interactions between multiple causal factors as conditioners of technology. This example highlights the role played by multiple, distinct technological strategies within a single pattern of activity as well as the potential ambiguity of the relations between these strategies and global mobility patterns.

TL;DR: Trends and future prospects in active power line conditioners using pulse-width-modulation inverters are presented with the focus on practical applications.
Abstract: Trends and future prospects in active power line conditioners using pulse-width-modulation inverters are presented with the focus on practical applications. Attention is given to shunt active power line conditioners and to two combined systems of active power line conditioners and shunt passive filters, which are classified into a combined system with shunt active conditioners, and with series active conditioners. >

TL;DR: A classification of the various polymeric soil conditioners is given and a historical review is attempted in this article, covering the period from 1950 up to today, and a discussion on the combination(s) of materials and/or properties outlines the future trends of this topic.
Abstract: This work focuses on synthetic polymeric materials that are designed to function as soil conditioners. A classification of the various polymeric soil conditioners is given and a historical review is attempted. One hundred and three examples are examined, covering the period from 1950 up to today. The routes followed for the preparation of a synthetic polymeric soil conditioner are discussed. In this way, materials and/or properties are tailored for certain applications. Water‐soluble, water‐insoluble (crosslinked or hydrophobic), ionic, or non‐ionic conditioners are examined and pictures of their shapes are given. Finally, a discussion on the combination(s) of materials and/or properties outlines the future trends of this topic. Interpenetrating networks, blends of soil conditioning polymers, polymers combined with slow‐releasing compounds as well as transformable materials are included by examining certain works that are concerned with such materials presenting combined properties that are used ...
