On Design Experiment Teaching in Engineering Quality Cultivation

Abstract: Design experiment refers to that designed and conducted by students independently and is surely an important method to cultivate students’ comprehensive quality. According to the development and requirements of experimental teaching, this article carries out a study and analysis on the purpose, significance, denotation, connotation and characteristics of design experiment and then elaborates on the general design methods and specific steps in this kind of experiment. By practicing in design experiment, students will have their abilities in innovation and scientific research as well as comprehensive engineering diathesis improved.

Connotation and Practice of People-oriented Idea in the Ideological and Political Education in Colleges and Universities

Abstract: The traditional ideological and political education, in the aspect of education goal and the education content, especially in the education method existence malpractice, often ignores the individual differences of students, and hinder the development of students' independent thinking and personalized thinking. This article discusses the method of ideological and political education for College students under the "people-oriented" perspective, uses the effective methods and means strive to make these methods have practicability and maneuverability in real education. The core part of this paper is, taking Southwest Petroleum University as an example, questionnaire is carried out based on College students' daily ideological and political education content carried out, and analyzes the achievements and shortcomings. On the basis of current college students' ideological and political education method incommensurate to the people-oriented concept survey analysis, according to the people-oriented theory and the related theory of the ideological and political education, ideological and political education method innovation and people-oriented concept are integrated into a unified researching system, so as to explore the relationship between them and put forward specific measures. In order to solve the problems find in the questionnaire, it is necessary to take the classroom teaching as a platform, strengthen ideological and political education of college students to by taking the construction of campus network as a platform, create a whole atmosphere of moral education, construct campus culture platform combined with psychological health education, take social practice activities as a platform to achieve effective dispersal, and expand the space for students to display themselves.

Автор обозначает суть понятия "концепт", дает определение терминам "экстремизм", "радикализм", рассматривает данные феномены и описывает их когнитивные характеристики с точки зрения современной языковой конфликтологии. On Translation Quality of Mongolian Intangible Cultural Heritages: The Mausoleum of Genghis Khan as a Case Study

Abstract: With the globalization of tourist industry, cultural and historical heritages are seen as the basic tourism resources. The quality of English translation of those resources plays an important role in valid cultural exchanges and boom of tourism industry. Mongolian cultural heritage presents a rich cultural resource and unique tourism value. Quite often it contains many terms and notions with specialized connotation which are rather difficult for target readers to comprehend and interpret. This paper takes the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan as a case study to analyze the translations of specific cultural words and sentences. Based on the current translation problems arising from the practical English translation of the materials about the Mausoleum, it aims to put forward some suggestions and to explore the effective translation strategies to further improve translation quality.

Notes on Campus Vocabulary, 1964

Abstract: IN THIS ARTICLE we will explore a few current campus words in some detail. Many of them have been previously recorded in American Speech and in the American Thesaurus of Slang (hereafter cited as ATS). Many of them, too, belong to the shared vocabulary of the campus and the outside world. Although objections have been made to labeling this shared vocabulary as campus slang, it seems to us that any slang word, no matter how widespread, may acquire special configurations of meaning on a campus and that even if it does not, nothing is lost by the recording process.' Many of the terms we discuss are familiar, then, but they have in some cases acquired new meanings and lost old ones. Often their meanings have been broadened and occasionally the connotation has been reversed, as when a hitherto derogatory word takes on a more favorable meaning. We hope that this discussion will be a kind of methodological addendum to the studies cited in footnote I.
