Abstract: It has been up to now arguable to translate Landscape Architecture into Chinese, which has made Chinese Landscape Architecture students and professionals confused. The differences of definitions of Landscape Architecture given by relevant establishments such as ASLA, the LI and IFLA are obvious. It is thus significant to understand the connotation of Landscape Architecture before get it translated. The origin, progress and finalization by the term of landscape architecture have therefore been traced. The backgrounds of the professionals have been then summarized and the connotation of Landscape Architecture has been finally proposed with reference to commending on some different authoritative definitions of Landscape Architecture internationally.
