TL;DR: In this paper, the authors use the term "transnational" to indicate the tendency of the corporations to cross national frontiers with a minimum of difficulty, whereas the connotation "multinational" may suggest a kind of common ownership which actually does not exist.
Abstract: I prefer to use the term ‘transnational’ because it indicates the tendency of the corporations to cross national frontiers with a minimum of difficulty, whereas the connotation ‘multinational’ may suggest a kind of common ownership which actually does not exist. This article has been published in Rapport, the periodical of the Swedish International Development Authority (no. 2, 1975).

TL;DR: The human-based ideas of Confucianism that people are the foundation of the country, the governing way of "governance with virtue", the way of personnel placement that men of great virtue and talent are elected who will cultivate mutual trust and promote universal understanding, the nationwide education thought that there should be education for everyone without distinction and the imperial examination system under the idea that those who excellently learned should serve (in the government), have exerted beneficial influences on the European modern civilization as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Confucianism, not only is the core of Chinese cultural educational thoughts but its influence has been identified in the West by the European scholars. And with the impact of Confucianism civilization, the theological authority in the Dark Ages wavered. The human-based ideas of Confucianism that people are the foundation of the country, the governing way of “Governance with virtue”, the way of personnel placement that men of great virtue and talent are elected who will cultivate mutual trust and promote universal understanding, the nationwide education thought that there should be education for everyone without distinction and the imperial examination system under the idea that those who excellently learned should serve (in the government), have exerted beneficial influences on the European modern civilization. Looking back at the course of Confucian influence in the West and the influence on the Enlightenment and modern civilization, it is easy to find that Confucianism education is of universal value in the pluralistic cultural world, which can enhance the cultural identification and cultural consciousness of a nation, creating a heritage of excellent cultural education and enriching the connotation of the contemporary cultural education.

Abstract: With the increasing time of contacting with soil particles, organic contaminants decreased their bioavailability apparently, i. e., sequestrated in soil, and aging happened. Relevant studies were carried out extensively, but the conception and connotation of "aging" weren't defined clearly, inducing the discrepancy on its understanding. After summarizing the understandings of relevant researchers at home and abroad, and based on our cognition on bioavailability, the conception and meaning of "aging" for organic contaminants in soil were expounded explicitly, with the other conceptions distinguished, which would be helpful to the studies related, and to those of the environmental chemical behaviors and bioremediation of organic contaminants in soil.

TL;DR: This article used metacognitive skills to classify the obtained information and to organize it into linked structures, to analyze the contextual word meaning, to overcome voçcabulary disparity and word sense disambiguation.
Abstract: Lexical errors in students’ English writing may be caused by lexical interference, multiple meaning and synonymy of Russian and English words. Russian students studying English as a foreign language often have little notion of the English or Russian word connotation and cannot analyze the word meaning; consequently they make a lot of lexical errors in translating their ideas into English. Typical students’ errors and mistakes include usage of a direct word meaning instead of a figurative one, transfer of the given word collocation into all possible collocations of this word, errors in selecting the contextual meaning of a multiple meaning word. We use some methods in teaching students to analyze the contextual meaning of the word and to find the English word for adequate translation: explanation of some problematic situations, cross-lingual matching and translation comparison. As a result students gain metacognitive skills to classify the obtained information and to organize it into linked structures, to analyze the contextual word meaning, to overcome vocabulary disparity and word sense disambiguation.
