Application of Frame Theory in Translation of Connotation in Chinese Ancient Poems

Abstract: Chinese ancient poems give prominence to the property of Chinese language that lay focus on the connotation beyond linguistic expressions. There has been long debate on which strategy should be chosen among literal or liberal translation and domestication or foreignization in translation community especially concerning cultural factors like translation of Chinese ancient poems. Frame theory provides a new perspective on the long debate of translation strategies, it illuminates on the translators that proper linguistic expressions should be found in target language to activate the identical or similar frames to those of in the source language.

The Scientific Connotation and Spiritual Essence of "People-based" Concept—Thought from Studying Comrade Hu Jintao's Report at the 17th CPC National Congress

Abstract: To accurately grasp the people-based concept of scientific development, we must first scientifically understand the basic connotation of people and base. Specifically, man is different from any other living things in nature; man is "every" man within an aggregation composed of all members; man is primarily the present man, but also the past and the future man; in a class society or a society with classes, taking people as the base is virtually taking the interests of the majority people; Marx's fundamental historical materialist position and basic principle that people are the creator of history is the theoretical basis to stick to the principle of taking people as the base. Taking people as the base is the theoretical presupposition to realize sustainable development. To take people as the base, we need to clarify the position it deserves in the Marxist theoretical system. To really taking people as the base, we must carry it out in implementing Concept of Scientific Development and take it as our Party's administrative notion and demand in the new period; we must further emancipate thoughts and set up firm mass concept; we must take it as the important guiding rule to build harmonious society; we must unswervingly stick to the basic route of "one center, two basic points".

Abstract: After examining the connotation and components of knowledge management (KM), the article suggests that the strategy of KM should be applied to the reference services in libraries. And from two aspects--knowledge navigation and management mode, some applications and practice are discussed.
