TL;DR: Personalized Adaptive Learning Dashboard (PALD), a compound student model bringing together various features of the overlay, fault, and stereotype models to provide a generic approach to modeling student with specific domain related knowledge is proposed.
Abstract: Student model is an essential component in any adaptive learning environment. Various student modelling approaches have been suggested in the literature that focus on learners' competencies, preferences and other personal attributes. However, there is a lack of a comprehensive student model that combines various aspects of student modelling while also considering the aspects of location and context awareness that are important for emerging ubiquitous learning environments. This paper proposes one such student model in the context of a personalized adaptive learning system, namely Personalized Adaptive Learning Dashboard (PALD), a compound student model bringing together various features of the overlay, fault, and stereotype models to provide a generic approach to modeling student with specific domain related knowledge.

TL;DR: This paper proposes a novel context-aware exception handling mechanism and discusses some lessons learned during its integration in the MoCA infrastructure, and includes how to use other emerging implementation techniques, such as aspect-oriented programming, to address the limitations of classical publish-subscribe mechanisms identified in this study.
Abstract: Handling erroneous conditions in context-aware mobile agent systems is challenging due to their intrinsic characteristics: openness, lack of structuring, mobility, asynchrony, and increased unpredictability. Even though several context-aware middleware systems support now the development of mobile agent-based applications, they rarely provide explicit and adequate features for context-aware exception handling. This paper reports our experience in implementing error handling strategies in some prototype context-aware collaborative applications built with the MoCA (Mobile Collaboration Architecture) system. MoCA is a publish-subscribe middleware supporting the development of collaborative mobile applications by incorporating explicit services to empower software agents with context-awareness. We propose a novel context-aware exception handling mechanism and discuss some lessons learned during its integration in the MoCA infrastructure. The discussions include how to use other emerging implementation techniques, such as aspect-oriented programming, to address the limitations of classical publish-subscribe mechanisms identified in our study.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied how digital twins can evolve their context awareness capabilities and simulation technologies to anticipate faults or to detect cyber-security issues in real time, and update access control policies accordingly.
Abstract: Beyond fifth generation (B5G) communication networks and computation paradigms in the edge are expected to be integrated into power grid infrastructures over the coming years. In this sense, AI technologies will play a fundamental role to efficiently manage dynamic information flows of future applications, which impacts the authorization policies applied in such a complex scenario. This article studies how digital twins can evolve their context awareness capabilities and simulation technologies to anticipate faults or to detect cyber-security issues in real time, and update access control policies accordingly. Our study analyzes the evolution of monitoring platforms and architecture decentralization, including the application of machine learning and blockchain technologies in the smart grid, toward the goal of implementing autonomous and self-learning agents in the medium and long term. We conclude this study with future challenges on applying digital twins to B5G-based smart grid deployments.

TL;DR: This paper proposes an advanced use case for energy savings which involves the necessity of defining usage profiles which help the underlying system to be aware about the stability of users' behaviors and perform its strategies always with sustainable goals in mind.
Abstract: The ultimate goal of sustainable homes and buildings is to work towards energy efficiency automatically taking into account user comfort always acknowledging the residents' desires. Such environments demand for a friendly coexistence between technology and usability to assure an optimized reality in terms of comfort, economic and energy savings. The ThinkHome project is geared towards this mission. It aims at exploiting automation systems and mechanisms based on artificial intelligence to further improve the sustainability of buildings. ThinkHome is designed in a way to relieve the smart home inhabitants from cumbersome tasks such as readjustments of their preferences by introducing learning capabilities and context awareness in the home. Part of the ThinkHome project, this paper proposes an advanced use case for energy savings. It involves the necessity of defining usage profiles which help the underlying system to be aware about the stability of users' behaviors and perform its strategies always with sustainable goals in mind.
