TL;DR: In this paper, the conformationally flexible bidentate ligand 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane (bpp) was obtained from Ag(CF3SO3) and three 1D coordination polymers.
Abstract: Three 1D coordination polymers were obtained from Ag(CF3SO3) and the conformationally flexible bidentate ligand 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane (bpp), [Ag(bpp)](CF3SO3)·EtOH (1), [Ag(bpp)](CF3SO3) (2), and [Ag2(bpp)4](CF3SO3)2·bpp (3), the latter two exhibiting quite uncommon structural motifs. 2 contains an infinite double helical polymer, comprised of two chains of the type present in 1, and is the first example of a cationic infinite discrete double helix in coordination polymer chemistry. 3 contains a novel 1D polymer, comprised of interconnected macrocycles to give an infinite tubular shape. Uncoordinated bpp molecules are located inside the tubules, threading the rings in a pseudorotaxane-like manner.

TL;DR: Synchrotron X-ray diffraction measurements unveiled the structural relationship between the shell crystal and the core crystal, where in-plane rotational epitaxial growth compensates the difference in lattice constant.
Abstract: MOF on MOF: Core-shell porous coordination polymer (PCP) crystals are fabricated at the single-crystal level by epitaxial growth in solution. Synchrotron X-ray diffraction measurements unveiled the structural relationship between the shell crystal and the core crystal, where in-plane rotational epitaxial growth compensates the difference in lattice constant.

TL;DR: The rigidity of the coordination polymer framework of Ni2(4,4′-bipy)3(NO3)4 is demonstrated quantitatively by determination of the structures of both ethanol-loaded and desolvated forms, showing only a small relaxation of the structure on guest loss.

TL;DR: This crystal transformation provides a new pore structure that is well suited for benzene molecules, and is described as a "shape-responsive fitting" transformation, which gives rise to a new guideline.
Abstract: In situ synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction patterns of porous coordination polymers {[Cu2(pzdc)2(bpy)]·G} have been measured (pzdc = pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylate, bpy = 4,4‘-bipyridine) (where G = H2O for CPL-2 ⊃ H2O, G = benzene for CPL-2 ⊃ benzene, and G = void for the apohost). The structures of apohost and CPL-2 ⊃ benzene were determined from Rietveld analysis. Adsorption of benzene in the channels induced a remarkable contraction in the crystal (b axis; 6.8%, volume; 4.9%), although the channels were occupied by the benzene molecules. This crystal transformation provides a new pore structure that is well suited for benzene molecules, and we denote it as a “shape-responsive fitting” transformation. This type of pore gives rise to a new guideline: frameworks can be composed of flexible motifs that are linked via strong bond and/or stiff motifs that are connected via weaker bonds.

TL;DR: Framework integrity is retained when water molecules replace the nitromethane molecules in the coordination polymer [Ag(hat)ClO4 ]⋅2 CH3 NO2 (see picture for structure).
Abstract: Framework integrity is retained when water molecules replace the nitromethane molecules in the coordination polymer [Ag(hat)ClO4 ]⋅2 CH3 NO2 (see picture for structure), which are arranged in a helical fashion within the chiral micropores of the three-dimensional [Ag(hat)+ ]n network with a (10,3)-a topology. Remarkably, this is also the case after subsequent displacement of the water by nitromethane molecules. hat=1,4,5,8,9,12-hexaazatriphenylene.
