TL;DR: A catalytic system that produces olefin block copolymers with alternating semicrystalline and amorphous segments by varying the ratio of α-olefin to ethylene in the two types of blocks is reported, which maintains excellent elastomeric properties at high temperatures.
Abstract: We report a catalytic system that produces olefin block copolymers with alternating semicrystalline and amorphous segments, achieved by varying the ratio of alpha-olefin to ethylene in the two types of blocks The system uses a chain shuttling agent to transfer growing chains between two distinct catalysts with different monomer selectivities in a single polymerization reactor The block copolymers simultaneously have high melting temperatures and low glass transition temperatures, and therefore they maintain excellent elastomeric properties at high temperatures Furthermore, the materials are effectively produced in economically favorable, continuous polymerization processes

TL;DR: This Review surveys different classes of reactive polymer precursors bearing chemoselective handles and discusses issues related to the preparation of these reactive polymers by direct polymerization of appropriately functionalized monomers as well as the post-polymerization modification of these precursor into functional polymers.
Abstract: Post-polymerization modification is based on the direct polymerization or copolymerization of monomers bearing chemoselective handles that are inert towards the polymerization conditions but can be quantitatively converted in a subsequent step into a broad range of other functional groups. The success of this method is based on the excellent conversions achievable under mild conditions, the excellent functional-group tolerance, and the orthogonality of the post-polymerization modification reactions. This Review surveys different classes of reactive polymer precursors bearing chemoselective handles and discusses issues related to the preparation of these reactive polymers by direct polymerization of appropriately functionalized monomers as well as the post-polymerization modification of these precursors into functional polymers.

TL;DR: In this paper, the alternating copolymer with a C-60 derivative (PCBM) was used for solar cells with a power conversion efficiency of 2.2 % under simulated solar light.
Abstract: Solar cells prepared using the alternating copolymer shown in the Figure blended with a C-60 derivative (PCBM) are demonstrated to have a high performance, with a power conversion efficiency of 2.2 % under simulated solar light. The molecular weight of the polymer is low due to limited solubility, and films of the polymer exhibit red-shifted absorption.

TL;DR: In this paper, a statistical calculation of the gel point and of the molecular size distribution for cross-linked high polymers of arbitrary initial size distribution is made for crosslink polymers, which depends only on the weight-average polymerization degree of the initial polymer and the degree of cross linking.
Abstract: A statistical calculation of the gel point and of the molecular size distribution is made for cross‐linked high polymers of arbitrary initial size distribution. The weight‐average polymerization degree of the cross‐linked polymer depends only on the weight‐average polymerization degree of the initial polymer and the degree of cross linking. The results obtained also apply to certain vinyl‐divinyl copolymers. Polymerization degrees can be estimated from observations of the gel point.
