TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the growing role of such transaction services within corporate banks' organisations, and also to group and analyse the continuously improving and developing "netting", "cash pool" and "information pool" banking products.
Abstract: Corporate cash management is a significant area of classic corporate finance theory and practice. Within a corporate group it is almost impossible to implement centralised cash management without the specialised service of corporate banks or other financial institutions. The objective of the article is to present the growing role of such transaction services within corporate banks’ organisations, and also to group and to analyse the continuously improving and developing “netting”, “cash pool” and “information pool” banking products. It is a clear conclusion, that these services represent one of the most innovative and dynamically developing product-groups of contemporary corporate banks that need to keep up with the globalisation and regional expansion of their clientele. Finally, we present the main risk and regulatory considerations of product implementation.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the creation of Turkey's largest business group by Vehbi Koc and its subsequent diversification into many industries, including automobiles, household goods, and services.
Abstract: The case describes the creation of Turkey's largest business group by Vehbi Koc. The foundation of this group in the interwar years, and its subsequent diversification into many industries, including automobiles, household goods, and services, are analysed. The case serves as a vehicle to explain why diversified business groups are so important in emerging markets such as Turkey. It explores the role of market imperfections, government policies, and entrepreneurial ambition in their creation, as well as the organizational challenges posed by managing such diversified firms owned by a family. Much of the firm's growth came from licensing and joint venture agreements with multinational firms that were unable, or unwilling, to invest directly in Turkey because of political risk and government restrictions. The case ends in 1988, when the founder has received a report from the management consultancy Bain calling for the firm to reduce the range of activities it undertakes because of the competitive challenges resulting from the liberalization of the Turkish economy.Learning Objective: The case explores the determinants of the growth of large diversified business groups in emerging markets such as Turkey.

TL;DR: In this paper, Maggy Pariente introduces the French Rozenblum concept of the compensation of damages with advantages from belonging to a corporate group, thereby illuminating the leading regulatory concepts in the world for addressing corporate groups which might also serve as model for future European harmonization measures.
Abstract: Recently, a number of articles in the ECFR have considered various national group laws (e.g. Paola Fasciani, Groups of Companies: The Italian Approach, ECFR 2007, 195; Pablo Girgado, Legislative Situation of Corporate Groups in Spanish Law, ECFR 2006, 363; Eiji Takahashi; Japanese Corporate Groups under the New Legislation; cf. further the Italian case note by Vincenzo Cariello, ECFR 2006, 330 and the part on Portuguese group law by Jose Engracia Antunes, ECFR 2005, 323, 367 et seq.). In these articles, frequent reference was made to the French Rozenblum concept of the compensation of damages with advantages from belonging to a corporate group. In the following article, Maggy Pariente introduces in depth the French approach, thereby illuminating one of the leading regulatory concepts in the world for addressing corporate groups which might also serve as model for future European harmonization measures.

TL;DR: In this paper, a case analysis of the application of Confucius practice in management specifically pertaining to the management practice of Charoen Pokphand Group of Companies (CP Group) is presented.
Abstract: This study is a case analysis of the application of Confucius practice in management specifically pertaining to the management practice of Charoen Pokphand Group of Companies. CP Group is one of the leading companies in Thailand, in which its operation started centuries back, and is run by a Chinese family. Confucius has influenced much of the Chinese consciousness such that his teachings and philosophies are practiced from then until now, and have been applied in many different areas including business. CP Group as it is largely a Chinese family business adheres to Confucian philosophy where it maintains hierarchy in its organizational structure, practices leadership by example, and sustains relationship to society through corporate philanthropy. It is believed that traditional Chinese families, wherever they are, always uphold the Confucian concept in leading their lives. Confucius is a philosopher who lived during the early times in China. He had since influenced the consciousness of Chinese people, making them more adept with the brilliance of his teachings and philosophies such that even at this present moment it is evident among their individual practices and could be gleaned through the management system of many of Chinese-ran companies. Confucius's practices always emphasize on how relationship of people in society should be, and how morality should lead people to have better lives. The CP Group may have been no exception on this matter. Their successes and their long history of business operation in Thailand may also have been guided by the immense work of Confucius. Thus, this study is guided by its three main objectives:
