TL;DR: A low vapour load reaction column comprises one or more bubble plates with immersion caps, and the side edges comprise openings or perforations for the passage of the gas phase as discussed by the authors, which is suitable for continuous catalytic esterification of aliphatic carboxylic acids of 2 to 24 carbon atoms with alcohols in countercurrent, and for transesterifications.
Abstract: A low vapour load reaction column comprises one or more bubble plates 1 with immersion caps 2 of which the side edges comprise openings or perforations 3 for the passage of the gas phase, one or more immersed inlets 5, one or more outlets 7 and, optionally, inflow and outflow weirs 6, 8, characterised in that it has an internal diameter of from 500 to 3000 mm and one or more orifices (4) below each bubble cap (2) of which the openings in the plate (1) are designed in such away that the dry pressure loss occurring under the particular conditions under which the column is operated are 15 times to 60 times greater than the pressure difference between the pressure of the liquid column at the outlet and the pressure of the liquid column at the inlet. This column is particularly suitable for the continuous catalytic esterification of aliphatic carboxylic acids of 2 to 24 carbon atoms with alcohols in countercurrent, and for transesterifications.

TL;DR: In this article, a theoretical study of the countercurrent flow of a dispersed phase in a continuous phase resulted in the following equation relating holdup X to the flow rates of the two phases.
Abstract: A theoretical study of the countercurrent flow of a dispersed phase in a continuous phase resulted in the following equation relating holdup X to the flow rates of the two phases. For packed towers this equation has been used in the following form: Values of A', B', and r for three liquid pairs, and two packing types are reported, using new holdup data determined in this research. Graphical correlations are shown and values of r are reported for some of the data of Gayler and Pratt. For spray towers the equation suggested a correlation of against the group This has been tested using data previously published by one of the authors.

TL;DR: In this article, a high-temperature heat exchanger with a casing, a fan, an evaporator, and a condenser is designed for the utility model, where the first tube plate is disposed at the outlet of the inner channel and the second tube plate at the outlets of the outer channel, so that the countercurrent heat exchange of heat exchanging pieces of both inner and outer channels is realized in the middle of the high temperature exchanger.
Abstract: The utility model provides a high-temperature heat exchanger, which comprises a casing (1), a fan, an evaporator and a condenser. The fan, the evaporator and the condenser are arranged inside the casing, the casing is provided with an inner channel (2) and an outer channel (3), a first tube plate (8) is disposed at an outlet (5) of the inner channel (2), and a second tube plate (9) is arranged at an outlet (7) of the outer channel (3). The first tube plate is arranged at the outlet of the inner channel of the high-temperature heat exchanger, the second tube plate is disposed at the outlet of the outer channel of the high-temperature heat exchanger, so that countercurrent heat exchange of heat exchanging pieces of the inner channel and the outer channel is realized in the middle of the high-temperature heat exchanger, heat exchange area of the high-temperature heat exchanger is enlarged, heat exchange time of the high-temperature heat exchanger is also prolonged, and accordingly, the efficiency of the high-temperature heat exchanger is improved.
