TL;DR: In this paper, a continuous metal belt driven by a motor is used to maintain the reaction temperature at a constant temperature, which is maintained by a heat exchange fluid at a part of the belt distinct from that traversed by the gas.
Abstract: The reactor includes a continuous metal belt driven by motor. the belt comprises a series of boxes, each of which has its two largest sides made of metal mesh and is filled with catalyst pellets. Gases are directed through the boxes and then recovered. Heat exchange, to maintain the reaction temp. constant, takes place between the belt and a heat exchange fluid at a part of the belt distinct from that traversed by the gas. Pref. the heat exchange fluid consists of the gas which has been removed from the reactor and returned to the belt in countercurrent after passage through a heat exchanger. The boxes may contain metallic heat exchange bodies. Reactor heat exchange system is simplified. Catalyst can be regenerated without shutdown.

TL;DR: In this paper, a wetted-wall column is used to determine the values of HOL and KLa for the flow of a viscous cuprous ammonium lactate solution countercurrent to a H2/CO gas mixture.
Abstract: A wetted-wall column is used to determine the values of HOL and KLa for the flow of a viscous cuprous ammonium lactate solution countercurrent to a H2/CO gas mixture.
Kapitsa's equation is used to calculate the value of the interfacial area on the rippled liquid surface. Values of KL are calculated and the effects of liquid and gas flow on KL are determined. It is shown that there is a significant effect of gas flow even though the absorption is liquid film controlled.
With a viscous solution the wetted-wall column can simulate conditions in a packing. The results from the wetted-wall and packed towers are examined by a new method to obtain the degree of wetting of the packing while mass transfer is occurring.

TL;DR: A mechanistic model was developed for the oscillating flow regime, which occurs in inclined channels with a side-entry configuration when the channel angle of inclination with respect to the horizontal plane is more than 10 deg and in channels with bottom-entry channel-tank interphase, and shown to satisfactorily predict the experimental data.
Abstract: Gravity-driven countercurrent two-phase flow, in channels connected to a sealed tank at one end and open to the atmosphere at the other end, was analytically studied. This type of gravity-driven co...

09 Nov 2016TL;DR: The results of this study show that the strength of the acceleration sensation induced by the countercurrent stimulation has a nonlinear correlation with the duration of the opposite current, and the characteristics of the enhancement effect can be estimated using a CR circuit model.
Abstract: Galvanic vestibular stimulation induces virtual acceleration sensation and is expected to be applied in computer games to improve their reality. The acceleration sensation can be enhanced by giving countercurrent which consists of an opposite current part and a forwarding current part. Conventionally, however, the degree of the enhancement is uncontrollable. This study reports that the effect of countercurrent can be modeled by an electrical circuit containing a capacitor and resistors. To model the effect of the countercurrent on the acceleration perception, we investigated the relation between the parameters: the duration and the strength of the opposite current part, of the countercurrent and strength of acceleration perception. The results of our study show that the strength of the acceleration sensation induced by the countercurrent stimulation has a nonlinear correlation with the duration of the opposite current, and the characteristics of the enhancement effect can be estimated using a CR circuit model.
