TL;DR: The problems of convergence, stability and stiffness which exist with the conventional methods are totally absent with the present model.
Abstract: A simple modelling approach is indicated for the dynamic analysis of countercurrent systems. The model is applied to an ideal double pipe heat exchanger. Frequency response analysis is performed using the model and an excellent agreement is shown. The dynamic response of solids mixing in a gas-solid fluidised bed is obtained by using the model. The problems of convergence, stability and stiffness which exist with the conventional methods are totally absent with the present model.

TL;DR: A survey of methanol synthesis processes under study or development can be found in this article, in which the synthesis is performed in the Slurry Bubble Column Reactor, the countercurrent Trickle Flow Reactor or the Reactor Section with Interstage Product Removal.
Abstract: The well-established methanol synthesis processes of Lurgi, ICI and Kellogg are discussed first. Then follows a survey of new processes under study or development, in which the methanol synthesis is performed in the Slurry Bubble Column Reactor, the countercurrent Trickle Flow Reactor, the Gas Solid Solid Trickle Flow Reactor or the Reactor Section with Interstage Product Removal.
