TL;DR: In this paper, an open-ended set of cover sheet forms (20) that may be readily interpreted by the fax server system is presented. But they do not specify how to use them.
Abstract: The present invention includes an open-ended set of cover sheet forms (20) that may be readily interpreted by the fax server system. In this system a first standardized cover sheet (12) is designed to accept hand printed characters. This first cover sheet is then transmitted to special fax server (42) to create an alternative, fully detached cover sheet for automatic transmission to its specific recipient. Labor is minimized by allowing the sender to hand print a minimal amount of highly constrained telephone numbers, or the initials of the recipient onto a draft cover sheet when a mailing list has been previously stored in memory. The first cover sheet is optionally automatically replaced by a final neatly printer cover sheet (44) in which the abbreviated information is expanded using prestored information to provide sufficient information to allow the secondary fax message cover sheets to be routed by a human or a machine. The present invention acts as a bridge between today's manually prepared cover sheets and E-mail systems that automatically route and store messages.

TL;DR: In this paper, a flexible composite material is provided upon which a facsimile message containing both confidential and non-confidential information can be recorded, and the composite material comprises a recording layer and a cover layer.
Abstract: Flexible composite material is provided upon which a facsimile message containing both confidential and non-confidential information can be recorded. In general, the composite material comprises a recording layer and a cover layer. The cover layer is disposed over a substantial portion of the recording layer to define a confidential message recording area and a non-confidential message recording area. The cover layer has a plurality of transverse perforation lines formed along the longitudinal extent of the cover layer. The transverse perforation lines are spaced apart in parallel fashion, and each pair of adjacent perforation lines forms a cover layer strip that can be selectively removed. One or more of the cover layer strips bear preprinted instructions as to how to reveal the non-confidential area without revealing the confidential message. Preferably, a releasable adhesive layer is disposed between the cover layer and recording layer, so as to releasably secure the same together without adversely affecting the integrity or functioning of the non-confidential or confidential recording area.

TL;DR: In this article, an engaging part 41 is provided on the inside of a cover stopping button 4 and is engaged with a projecting part 21 attached to t cover 2 to stop the cover.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent unnecessary power consumption in case of erroneous turning-on of a power switch during carrying by constituting a device so that information of the power switch is ineffective at the time of closing a cover switch. CONSTITUTION:An engaging part 41 is provided on the inside of a cover stopping button 4 and is engaged with a projecting part 21 attached to t cover 2 to stop the cover. These projecting part 21 and engaging part 41 are made of a conductive member and form a cover switch 5. When the cover switch 5 has the projecting part 21 and the engaging part 41 engaged, a conduction signal indicating this state is transmitted to a data processing part. Consequently, as operation signal for detachment of a cover clip 3 is outputted as the turning-off signal of the cover switch 5 when the projecting part 21 and the engaging part 41 are not brought into contact with each other. Thus, the problem is resolved that a power source is turned on again against user's well at the time of applying a pressure to the vicinity of the power switch by some cause and battery is unnecessarily consumed.

TL;DR: A reusable cover sheet for facsimile transmission as mentioned in this paper is a flexible opaque sheet (10) having permanent first markings (12) denoting information of a permanent generic nature as well as blank spaces and lines disposed on the sheet for making temporary erasable markings.
Abstract: A reusable cover sheet for facsimile transmission comprises a flexible opaque sheet (10) having permanent first markings (12) denoting information of a permanent generic nature as well as blank spaces and lines disposed on the sheet for making temporary erasable markings to convey the message to be sent. The flexible sheet is thin enough to be fed through a facsimile transmission machine without difficulty and the temporary markings are made of a material not substantially affected by passage through the machine. The temporary markings, are removed after the message is sent, making the reusable cover sheet ready for its next use in sending a new message. In a preferred embodiment the reusable facsimile cover sheet comprises a sheet of white paper (18) with permanent information and ruled lines for the message printed on both sides. The paper with printed information is laminated between two layers (20 and 22) of thin transparent plastic. The invention further comprises a kit including a reusable cover sheet, a felt-tipped pen (32) with a felt eraser (34) at one end, and a container (48) for those two items with means for attaching the container (52) to a suitable location near the facsimile machine for ready access. Also, a method for saving paper by using the reusable facsimile cover sheet and kit is disclosed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a mechanism to prevent an accident that a cassette is caught on a panel cover by interlocking the operation of a loading mechanism to put in and out a cassette and operation of the panel cover opening and closing mechanism with each other.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent an accident that a cassette is caught on a panel cover by interlocking the operation of a loading mechanism to put in and out a cassette and the operation of a panel cover opening and closing mechanism with each other. CONSTITUTION:When an instruction to take out the cassette is inputted by a loading control signal (a), a loading control circuit 7 detects the opening and closing state of the panel cover based on a panel cover opening and closing state signal (h) sent from a panel cover driving mechanism 5. When the cover 4 is opened, the loading control circuit 7 outputs the control signal (c) to take out the cassette to a loading mechanism 6. If the cover 4 is closed or is positioned at an intermediate position, the loading control circuit 7 sends the signal (g) to open the cover 4 to the panel cover control circuit 8. Then, the cover control circuit 8 issues a drive command to the cover driving mechanism based on the signal (g), and the cover driving mechanism 5 receives the drive command, and opens the cover 4. Thus, a contact accident with the cassette panel cover 4 can be prevented.

TL;DR: In this article, the change of a document detection signal after a document cover is closed into a signal indicating the presence of documents at all times with the white platen of the document cover was investigated.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect plural kinds of document size at low cost by detecting the document sizes by utilizing the change of a document detection signal after a document cover is closed into a signal indicating the presence of a document at all times with the white platen of the document cover. CONSTITUTION:A switch 7 which sends out the document detection signal SS to sensors 3A and 4A right before the document cover 2 is closed and after the lapse of specific time from closing the document cover 2 is provided on an original platen 1. Then a document detection signal DD3 right before the document cover 2 which can be opened/closed is outputted and a document detection signal DD4 is outputted after the specific time lapses from closing the document cover 2; and the document detection signal DD3 and DD4 are compared with each other to detect the size of a document 10. Consequently, even when plural kinds of document sizes are detected, the man-hours of assembly and the number of components of an applied image reader are reduced to reduce the cost.
