TL;DR: In situ Raman spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry have been used simultaneously to study anodic film growth and dissolution on Cu and Ag in strongly alkaline solution as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: In situ Raman spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry have been used simultaneously to study anodic film growth and dissolution on Cu and Ag in strongly alkaline solution. On copper, Cu/sub 2/O and another species, believed to be a hydroxide, were detected spectroscopically during anodic film formation. Raman spectra of electrochemically formed hydroxides on copper have not previously been reported. On silver, AgO was detected. Neither CuO nor Ag/sub 2/O was observed by Raman spectroscopy, although for certain potentials. AgO was apparently produced by photochemical conversion of Ag/sub 2/O. Experiments were performed using both the 488 nm line from an argon laser and the 647.1 nm line from a krypton laser. It was concluded that the detection of these thin film oxides was by spontaneous or resonant Raman scattering and did not involve surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS).

TL;DR: In this paper, ascorbic acid, dihydroxyphenylacetic acid, and dopamine were compared at polypyrrole-coated glassy carbon and naked glassy polynodes, and it was shown that the electrochemical reversibility differences for these substances are to some degree result of electrostatic interactions between the anionic solutes, or anionic reaction intermediates, and anionic functional groups on carbon or cationic fixed sites in oxidized poly pyrrole.

TL;DR: The (Ru(bpy)/sub 2/Cl-poly(4-vinylpyridine)) redox polymer catalyzes the oxidation of Fe(II) into Fe(III) in 1 M HCl in a quite efficient manner both in terms of current and potential as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The (Ru(bpy)/sub 2/Cl-poly(4-vinylpyridine)) redox polymer catalyzes the oxidation of Fe(II) into Fe(III) in 1 M HCl in a quite efficient manner both in terms of current and potential. Quite substantial portions of the film thickness are active in the catalytic system. Providing a good example of the interest of redox polymer coatings in the catalysis of electrochemical reactions as a result of the three-dimensional dispersion of the reacting centers. The polymer is also able to catalyze, although to a lesser extent, the reduction of Fe(III) to Fe(II) in the same medium in spite of the fact that the standard potential of the Ru(III)/Ru(II) couple is positive to that of the Fe(III)/Fe(II) couple. Analysis of the experimental data and the optimization of the catalytic efficiency by means of previously developed kinetic models demonstrate the validity of these models both in terms of the limiting currents and half-wave potentials featuring the catalytic process.

TL;DR: The electrochemical behavior of the surface species photogenerated at a polycrystalline titanium dioxide film electrode in alkaline solution was investigated by means of cyclic voltammetry as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The electrochemical behavior of the surface species photogenerated at a polycrystalline titanium dioxide film electrode in alkaline solution was investigated by means of cyclic voltammetry. The obtained results are consistent with the same surface peroxo titanium species being formed when an illuminated TiO/sub 2/ electrode is subjected to an anodic bias or left in open circuit both in the presence and in the absence of oxygen. The decay of these species after the cutoff of illumination was observed to occur relatively slowly, about half of their initial amount being still detectable after 16 h of electrode immersion in sodium hydroxide solution. It was shown that the cathodic reduction of the surface peroxo species, photogenerated at the TiO/sub 2/ electrode, takes place at distinctly more negative potentials than that of dissolved molecular oxygen and that of both preadsorbed and dissolved hydrogen peroxide. The latter species (present mainly as HO/sub 2//sup -/ ions) were also observed to undergo rapid photooxidation at the TiO/sub 2/ photoanode, competing efficiently for positive holes with OH/sup -/ ions. These findings do not support the earlier postulated involvement of the hydrogen peroxide as an intermediate of the photoreaction leading to oxygen evolution. The pathways for the photooxidationmore » reactions at TiO/sub 2/ are briefly discussed in connection with the proposed mechanism of formation of the surface peroxo titanium species. Their role in controlling the surface electron-hole recombination, particularly at dispersed TiO/sub 2/ photocatalysts, is pointed out.« less
