TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method and apparatus for effectively removing noise in a frequency domain by converting video or still image data distorted by noise in the frequency domain, which includes classifying a received original signal into predetermined size blocks and generating at least one signal rebuilding a block by removing the classified signals as many as the predetermined number of pixels within the range for the number of pixel in the above block.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for effectively removing noise in a frequency domain by converting video or still image data distorted by noise in the frequency domain. SOLUTION: The noise removal method includes: classifying a received original signal into predetermined size blocks (a); generating at least one signal rebuilding a block by removing the classified signals as many as the predetermined number of pixels within the range for the number of pixels in the above block; and removing noise in the frequency domain by converting the original signal and the rebuilt signal into signals in the frequency domain. As a result, noise in still image and video signals is effectively removed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method of compensating for the dark signal in an image signal by generating a dark signal model from a light signal measurement, the model being a digital signal representing a dark frame captured by an image sensor when shielded from exposure to light.
Abstract: A method of compensating for dark signal in an image signal, the method including generating a dark signal model from a dark signal measurement, the dark signal being a digital signal representing a dark frame captured by an image sensor when shielded from exposure to light; and estimating the dark signal present in an object signal using the dark signal model, the object signal being a digital signal representing an object frame captured by the image sensor when exposed to light.

TL;DR: Simulation results based on Matlab show that this method can eliminate the salt and pepper noise in satellite images efficiently and preserves edges and details information of the image.
Abstract: In this paper, a new adaptive weight algorithm is developed for the removal of salt and pepper noise particularly in satellite images. Satellite images are corrupted when acquired by a defective sensor or when transmitted through a faulty channel. Salt and pepper noise can be commonly found in the sensor or transmission channel during acquisition and transmission of digital satellite images. This algorithm can be worked in two phases. During the first phase, detecting the noise pixel according to the correlations among image pixels and in second phase adaptive weight algorithm is used to remove the noise. Simulation results based on Matlab show that this method can eliminate the salt and pepper noise in satellite images efficiently and preserves edges and details information of the image. Also this method can remove noise for highly contaminated image with noise level as large as 90%, it still can get the better performance.

TL;DR: In this paper, an image filtering method to extract connected domain in binary image is presented. But the noise suppression effect is not as ideal as expected as expected, when using common noise filtering methods to suppress the target image, it presents an image filter method that extracts the images connected domain and communicates according to the outline of the selected field noise point and filter noise point, which preserves image detail and effective noise suppression characteristics of the target images.
Abstract: In order to address the noise suppression effect is not as ideal as expected, when using common noise filtering method to suppress the target image,it presents an image filtering method to extract connected domain in binary image The collected binary image extracts the images connected domain and communicates according to the outline of the selected field noise point and filter noise point, ultimately preserves image detail and effective noise suppression characteristics of the target image Results show that this method is superior to conventional filtering methods in a particular application

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method for filtering random noise and salt and pepper noise that minimizes a loss of detail in an image using a sliding window and a sorted array.
Abstract: Methods of filtering random noise and salt and pepper noise that minimize a loss of detail in an image are described. Sample values of an image that are within a tolerance within a sliding window are used to normalize a sample centered in the sliding window to filter random noise and minimize a loss of detail in an image. Sample values of an image in a sliding window are sorted into a sorted array, and mapped to values based on pre-defined regions of the sorted array to filter salt and pepper noise and minimize a loss of detail in an image.
