TL;DR: In this paper, a car radio has sprung ratches on each side of the fitting to grip behind the dashboard bezel and provide a self-locking fitting, which is difficult for a thief to remove.
Abstract: Dashboard fitting for a car radio has sprung ratches (3) each side of the fitting to grip behind the dashboard bezel (5) and provide a self locking fitting. The radio is pushed into place for automatic locking and is difficult for a thief to remove. The ratchet cams are released by special tools and are normally in a protected setting. They are sprung into the locking action with the insertion of the radio lifting the cams to ride over the rear edge.

TL;DR: In this paper, a remotely operated wheel slip preventing system for a vehicle acts in the main of snow chains is described, which has a special holder under the middle of the car and extending a servo arm to position the grip aid under the wheel when required.
Abstract: The remotely operated wheel slip preventing system for a vehicle acts in the main of snow chains. The built-in system has a special holder under the middle of the car and extending a servo arm (13) to position the grip aid under the wheel when required. The grip aid has rotating elastic strips which provide the grip between the wheels and the road. The system is operated from the dashboard and requires no fitting at the roadside. It does not damage the road surface.

TL;DR: In this article, the vehicle journey data computer has a control section enabling data input and request and an indicator displaying the data, which can be used without the driver needing to see it because there is an acoustic indication on a readily visible indication of which key is pressed.
Abstract: The vehicle journey data computer has a control section enabling data input and request and an indicator displaying the data. The unit is operated with minimal driver distraction. The keyboard can be used without the driver needing to see it because there is an acoustic indication on a readily visible indication of which key is pressed. The indicator has several display fields for different data including a numerical display shaving the value of each parameter. The display fields are arranged in neighbouring groups. Each group is associated with a key in a keyboard layed out similarly to the indicator groups. The indicator section is located in the dashboard and the control section with keyboard near the normal driving hand position.

TL;DR: In this article, a pair of parallel support members extend behind and perpendicularly to the dashboard of an automotive vehicle at the sides of the opening of the dashboard, and a key-operated lock is mounted in the hole formed therethrough in close proximity with the opening therethrough.
Abstract: A pair of parallel support members extend behind and perpendicularly to the dashboard of an automotive vehicle at the sides of the opening of the dashboard. Guide devices are provided on the sides of the unit housing of audio equipment and on the support members in cooperative engagement for slidably mounting the unit housing behind the dashboard. The dashboard has a hole formed therethrough in close proximity with the opening therethrough. A slot is formed through the top or bottom of the unit housing equidistant from the sides thereof intermediate the front and back of the unit housing. A pin is secured in the unit housing in operative proximity with the slot and is accessible via the slot. The pin and the slot are mutually perpendicular. A key-operated lock is mounted in the hole through the dashboard. A securing arm is rotatably affixed to the lock behind the dashboard and is rotatable by a key in the lock to an unlocked position in which the arm is in spaced relation with, and at a distance from, the unit housing and the slot and pin of the unit housing whereby the audio equipment unit is freely removable from the dashboard, and to a locked position at an angle with the unlocked position in which the arm extends through the slot and is hooked to the pin and locked in position whereby the arm obstructs movement of the unit housing through the opening of the dashboard so that the unit is secured behind the dashboard.

TL;DR: In this paper, the failure indicator for the car dashboard has a transparent drum (12) located behind an opening (1, 2) in the dashboard, and a light (14) inside the drum to illuminate the section under the hole.
Abstract: The warning indicator for the car dashboard has a transparent drum (12) located behind an opening (1, 2) in the dashboard, and a light (14) inside the drum to illuminate the section under the hole. The drum is covered with various warning symbols to indicate the respective fault to the driver. Only one indicator hole is required. The drum rotation is controlled by the failure indicator circuit, with a priority for certain types of fault.

TL;DR: In this paper, a projection screen is fitted on the dashboard of a car or a service vehicle to display a back projection from microfilm and the information can be read either by the driver or the passenger.
Abstract: The vehicle dashboard, or the central control console is fitted with a projection screen(9) onto which selective information can be displayed by back projection from microfilm. The information can be read either by the driver or the passenger. The display dispenses with bulky charts and reference data, e.g. hotel lists, customer addresses, phrase books etc. and enables the driver of a private car or a service vehicle to obtain information rapidly.

TL;DR: In this article, the dashboard is fitted with a console under the steering wheel with indicator lamps and dials visible through a steering wheel and with control switches on either edge, reached with fingertip control by the hands on the steering wheels.
Abstract: The dashboard is fitted with a console (6) under the steering wheel (3) with indicator lamps and dials visible through the steering wheel and with control switches on either edge, reached with fingertip control by the hands on the steering wheel. The console edges are sloped to form mounting surfaces for the switches. The dashboard controls and indicators are ergonomically laid out to improve safety. Additional instruments are on a raised console above the dashboard.

TL;DR: In this paper, the glass of the external driving mirror is threaded with an array of electric beater wires which are connected to the ignition side of the vehicle electric supply, in a similar manner as the rear windscreen demister panel to enable the driver to have optimum visibility.
Abstract: The glass of the external driving mirror is threaded with an array of electric beater wires which are connected to the ignition side of the vehicle electric supply. An illuminated dashboard control (5) operates the heaters, in a similar manner as the rear windscreen demister panel, to enable the driver to have optimum visibility. The dashboard switch can operate a remote relay (3) to connect the heaters to the supply. If the ignition is switched off then the heaters are automatically disconnected to prevent the battery from running down.

TL;DR: In this paper, the pneumatic or hydraulic systems in the utility vehicle are controlled by dashboard mounted valves, which can be packed close together to give an efficient layout and operate in the same way an electric switch.
Abstract: The pneumatic or hydraulic systems in the utility vehicle are controlled by dashboard mounted valves. There are several rocker tabs(7) which are set in the dashboard to press onto valves(1) inside the board. The valves can be packed close together to give an efficient layout. The valves do not reach out of the dashboard and are operated in the same way an electric switches. No separate servo connections are required.

TL;DR: In this paper, a radio receiver is installed in a motor vehicle close to the steering column, where the receiver has a tuning knob on its outer side and a display on its front.
Abstract: The radio receiver, for installing in a motor vehicle close to the steering column, is built into a raised section of the dashboard behind the steering wheel. The raised section (G) of dashboard contains the speedometer (O) at its centre and the radio receiver to the left of the speedometer. The receiver has a tuning knob (K) on its outer side and a display (N) on its front. The display may be rotatable and contain a roller or similar rotatable display member. This whole section of dashboard is made from prefabricated parts.
