TL;DR: In this paper, a double-sided security key is used to complete the various circuits of the chosen electrical systems by matching physical codes on the key to that of an installed receiving unit mounted within or about the dashboard of a vehicle.
Abstract: A vehicle security system disables various electrical systems throughout the vehicle. A unique double-sided security key is used to complete the various circuits of the chosen electrical systems by matching physical codes on the key to that of an installed receiving unit mounted within or about the dashboard of a vehicle. The various combinations created by the coded key make a determination of how the various circuits are broken. The method of attempting to re-connect the circuits by trial and error is prohibitive to a would-be thief. The unit can be used to disable an automobile, boat, motorcycle, RV, etc. The device may include one or more blocking diodes within the circuits to produce false readings during attempted tampering.

TL;DR: In this paper, an anti-collision device in the form of a portable air bag which may be attached to the dashboard of any car is presented. But it requires no more effort to install than attaching the base to the vehicle dashboard, adjusting the angle, and turning the device on.
Abstract: An anti-collision device in the form of a portable air bag which may be attached to the dashboard of any car. The air bag (1) may be easily moved from car to car or left attached in a single car, adding the passenger side protection which was omitted by the manufacturer. The invention is independently powered, and requires no more effort to install than attaching the base (4) to the vehicle dashboard, adjusting the angle, and turning the device on. If desired, the device can be attached to the dashboard with Velcro® fastening material (12) or the like, allowing easy movement between multiple vehicles. The activating mechanism (5) automatically adapts to any angle of dashboard, and automatically triggers the bag on impact without need for manual intervention. The activation mechanism is disarmed when the bag is turned off and/or removed from a dashboard, eliminating the danger of false triggering when it is not installed.

TL;DR: A steering wheel for a car has "fingertip switches" incorporated into the inner surface of the rim, beneath the covering material as discussed by the authors, which are duplicated by conventional switches on the dashboard so that the driver can choose whichever is more comfortable.
Abstract: A steering wheel for a car has "fingertip switches" incorporated into the inner surface of the rim, beneath the covering material. The rim itself is U- shaped in cross-section to hole the necessary cabling. The switches are in groups, the left hand working the lights (winkers, headlamps, spotlamps), the right hand one the radio functions (station selection and loudness) and the middle one at the bottom, the windshield wipers and the door mirrors. All the functions are duplicated by conventional switches on the dashboard so that the driver can choose whichever is more comfortable. Transmission between steering wheel switches and dashboard relays is by infra-red transmitters and receivers. ADVANTAGE The driver does not need to take hands off the steering wheel, therefore giving safer driving

TL;DR: In this paper, a U-shaped arrangement of moving levers is used to move the central electrical components of a vehicle. But the U-shape of the moving lever is not the same as the one in this paper.
Abstract: The component is held against a mounting plate. Moving levers (4,5) which are swingable about an axis (8) are held against the mounting plate (2) and are lockable with each other. A screw (10) is provided to set different angles between the mounting plate and the moving levers. The different angles allow the components (1) to be set at different heights. The moving levers are hook-shaped at one end and together form a U-shaped arrangement. The components may be the central electrical components of the vehicle, and these are movable for placement of electrical connections. USE/ADVANTAGE - Vehicle dashboard components. Allows components to be held in different positions e.g. during mfr. of electrical and hydraulic connections.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors outline instrumentation development, and describe the instrumented vehicle and capability demonstration, and the vehicle may be fitted with systems to be studied, and used to collect data on driver behaviour in test track or road based field trials.
Abstract: In recent years there has been an increase in the development of in-vehicle systems technology and an increased availability of portable office equipment capable of being adapted for in-vehicle use. These advances in technology can make available to the driver both business and travel related information. Information would be typically presented on a visual display fitted to the vehicle dashboard and may be supplemented with an audible message. The requirement to assess driver interaction with a wide range of information systems, and vehicle control aids, in both urban and inter-urban situations has prompted TRL to develop an instrumented vehicle. The vehicle may be fitted with systems to be studied, and used to collect data on driver behaviour in test track or road based field trials. The authors outline instrumentation development, and describe the instrumented vehicle and capability demonstration.
