Abstract: As a variety of video surveillance devices such as CCTV, drones, and car dashboard cameras have become popular, numerous studies have been conducted regarding the effective enforcement of security and surveillance based on video analysis. In particular, in car-related surveillance, car tracking is the most challenging task. One early approach to accomplish such a task was to analyze frames from different video sources separately. Considering the shooting range of the bulk of video devices, the outcome from the analysis of single video source is highly limited. To obtain more comprehensive information for car tacking, a set of video sources should be considered together and the relevant information should be integrated according to spatial and temporal constraints. Therefore, in this study, we propose a real-time car tracking system based on surveillance videos from diverse devices including CCTV, dashboard cameras, and drones. For scalability and fault tolerance, our system is built on a distributed processing framework and comprises a Frame Distributor, a Feature Extractor, and an Information Manager. The Frame Distributor is responsible for distributing the video frames from various devices to the processing nodes. The Feature Extractor extracts principal vehicle features such as plate number, location, and time from each frame. The Information Manager stores all the features into a database and handles user requests by collecting relevant information from the feature database. To illustrate the effectiveness of our proposed system, we implemented a prototype system and performed a number of experiments. We report some of the results.

However, when driving a car there are limited options for overcoming glares on the dashboard, especially when you are driving for a long distance in the same direction. Embodiments are directed to eliminating such glare. Other embodiments are related to mixed reality (MR) and filling in occluded areas.

Abstract: There has always been a safety issue while driving and this issue is of utmost importance with the increasing amount of accidents due to car crashing or distracted driving. As per the CDC motor vehicle safety division, one in five car accidents occurs due to distracted driving. Unfortunately, this led to over 425,000 people getting injured and around 3,000 people being killed due to distracted driving. This paper aims to monitor the behaviour of the driver and look for any kind of distraction. The model classifies the distractions into ten classes like talking on phone using left/right hand, interacting with the passenger, using the dashboard, drinking and reaching behind. Different architectures of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) like AlexNet and Inception-v3 are used which give promising results. The input to the model is the set of dashboard images with the help of which the behaviour of the driver is supervised for any distractions.

Abstract: Objectives: to propose a system which provides an alert and safe driving scenario to improve the crash prevention performance. Methods/Statistical Analysis: In this method, an LCD type display is installed at the back of a car for displaying the warning signs a driver has seen to the vehicle which is coming behind. A touch-enabled and a voice recognition devises are mounted on the dashboard for receiving the inputs from the driver of the vehicle which is connected a wireless transceiver, a microcontroller device as well as a display device on the back side of the vehicle so that the driver can alert the vehicle which is following. Findings: The proposed method costs less to implement and it is completely networking free since it does not require any establishment of the connection between vehicles. It can be easily implemented in all type of vehicles. Application/Improvements: This vehicle to vehicle communication system is more compact and accurate since the driver is directly conveying the alert to vehicle which is following it. Abstract: The invention discloses an attention assist system. The attention assist system comprises an image acquisition subsystem, a vehicle speed sensor unit, a central processing subsystem and a reminding subsystem. The image acquisition subsystem is disposed on a steering wheel or a dashboard for collecting a facial information image of a driver in real time and storing. The vehicle speed sensor unit isconnected with the central processing subsystem for detecting the driving speed of a vehicle. The central processing subsystem is separately connected with the image acquisition subsystem and the vehicle speed sensor unit for processing and analyzing the facial information image to determine whether the attention of the driver is concentrated or not. The central processing subsystem is further used for determining whether to issue a reminding instruction or not according to the driving speed. The reminding subsystem is connected with the central processing subsystem for reminding when the attention of the driver is not concentrated. The attention assist system can timely remind the driver of paying attention to the driving process and avoids traffic accidents.

Abstract: Contamination of water is the major cause for waterborne diseases. In order to detect the water contaminants, electrochemical and optical sensors are needed to measure physical and chemical properties of water quality. So this paper proposed a real-time water quality monitoring system which provides support for decision making in prevention of water contamination. In this system, sensors are connected to a micro controller to process and analyze the data. The analyzed data is then transmitted to remote monitoring center(dashboard) through GPRS module. In dashboard the end user, can register into the portal, can able to select deployment region through google maps if the device is connected in that location, can visualize the selected deployment region sensor readings in realtime, can identify alerts and warnings of sensors. The registered user can also get alerts and warnings through SMS service. The proposed system is successfully tested in different water environments for online monitoring of the water parameters such as turbidity, pH and temperature of water bodies. The results will indicate that the system is capable of good detection accuracy and low deployment operation cost. This kind of implementation is suitable for large scale deployments, which enable the sensor network to provide data to the water authorities.

Abstract: The invention discloses a detecting and monitoring system and method for safe driving of an automobile. The detecting and monitoring system comprises a plurality of safe driving behavior detecting devices separately connected with an input end of a vehicle driving computer, and an output end of the vehicle driving computer is connected with display screens and a dashboard. A personal headshot anddriving behavior data of a driver are automatically stored and analyzed by the vehicle driving computer and then displayed on the display screens and the dashboard. A license plate of one vehicle onelicense is input into the vehicle driving computer by a vehicle management department and displayed on the display screens, and the display screens at least include a front display screen and a rear display screen separately installed inside or outside the vehicle and conveniently viewed from the outside of a vehicle. The relevant data monitored by the safe driving behavior detecting devices can be outputted and displayed on the display screens and the dashboard after being automatically stored and analyzed by the vehicle driving computer, so that the situation that the whole people coordinatewith the traffic control department to supervise the driving behavior of drivers can be realized. The awareness of safe driving for all the people is improved, traffic accidents are reduced, and licenses are prevented from being altered or replaced after theft of the vehicle.

The casing is configured with an opening to view the display of the device and has a securing mechanism to hold the inserted device in place. The mounting/mating components may be magnetic. There is a method of installing a removably mountable casing having preattached mounting components to a vehicle dashboard. The method comprises removing the dashboard, aligning the casing against a front side of the dashboard; preparing the dashboard at a location where a plurality of mating components will be attached; attaching the plurality of mating components to the location; reconnecting the dashboard; and mounting the casing such that the mounting components correspondingly mate to the mating components on the dashboard.

Abstract: In this demo, we present a framework to retrieve data from an electric vehicle platform and publish it through an embedded wireless network. We developed driver programs to read the car’s data (such as speed, battery level, etc.), and we built a IEEE802.15.4-TSCH network with a (CoAP) server to make it available to other devices. We also developed a dashboard, including a CoAP client, and multiple displays, to show the relevant information in real time to the driver.

Abstract: To correctly identify the hazards and elements affecting the safety level of the crew of the police cars, Automotive Industry Institute (PIMOT) carried out research in the field of passive safety of two passenger cars currently used in the Polish Police. The vehicles were equipped like marked and unmarked police cars. The tests consisted in defining the contact zones of additional equipment with the head and limbs of the driver and the passenger of the car. Furthermore, there was performed an energy dissipation test for the camera placed in front of the passenger. Authors carried out also the test involving the detonation of air bags mounted in the steering wheel and in the dashboard. Based on the conducted research, it has been shown that the additional equipment of police cars may pose a significant threat to the vehicle crew. During the tests the camera detached from the holder. The air bag contacted the car's equipment in both cars, which affected work of the air bag. Therefore, it was considered that it is necessary that manufacturers of police cars and other special vehicles should expand their knowledge on passive safety of vehicles to better select the type and manner of development. The tests that are carried out by research centres are helpful in this issue. Moreover, there should be legal regulations that will effectively enforce the control of the methodology of building emergency vehicles.

Abstract: A vehicular human-machine interface, a dashboard and a method of providing information to a driver of a vehicle. The interface includes a multi-information display that provides a driver icons that are representative of a vehicle systems such that the driver can view, and if necessary, control through the interface. Input is simplified through a reduced set of directional buttons on a steering wheel-mounted four-way switch. By eliminating a separate BACK button from the steering wheel, driver input operations to achieve navigational control between various vehicle system menus that correspond to the icons, as well as sub-menus within a particular vehicle system, is simplified. The simplified navigation that is either between various icons on the display or various menu-based levels that can be sequentially shown also permits, in addition to viewing various vehicle system operational parameters, the ability to change such parameters through adjustment through the human-machine interface.

Abstract: The Forward Vehicle Start Alarm (FVSA) is a technique for determining whether or not a forward vehicle begins to start when the traffic signal changes from STOP to GO. And it is expected to be one of the important functions of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). In this paper, we implement the FVSA function by using only dashboard camera. We consider the moving edges which are obtained from the frame difference as a key feature to detect the movement of a forward vehicle. We project the moving edges horizontally to find the positions of the dominant edge in the Region of Interest (ROI) and create the edge profile by temporally accumulating them. By examining the change pattern of edge profile, we can successfully track whether the forward vehicle is departing. Through simulation, we confirmed that the proposed method works reliably in various environments and showed that it can solve the typical case of the malfunction in existing commercial ADAS products

Abstract: The invention discloses an automobile dashboard frame comprising a base plate and a panel detachably arranged on the base plate, wherein a transparent dashboard is fixed on the panel; the surface of the base plate is depressed inwards to form an empty body of which the position corresponds to the position of the transparent dashboard; the side wall of the cavity body mainly consists of a first curved side wall and a second curved side wall; a light guide plate is fixed to the first curved side wall; a flexible printed circuit (FPC) board is fixed to the second curved side wall; and one side, facing the light guide plate, of the FPC board is electrically connected with a plurality of LED lights and the other side of the FPC board is fixedly provided with a heat dissipation structural part.The automobile dashboard frame not only solves the problems that the projection of light is not uniform and the light is not soft because of the position limitation of light sources of an ordinary backlight device, but also solves the problem of short service life of LED lights of the ordinary backlight device caused by the poor heat dissipation effect thereof.

Abstract: A mounting system for a mobile device such as a mobile phone on a vehicle dashboard is disclosed. The mobile phone is mounted on a surface of the dashboard and includes sun shielding via a built in sun shield which shields a vehicle display in front of the driver, and extends rearward over the mobile phone to sufficiently shield the mobile phone screen when the mobile phone is mounted in the mounting location provided. The mounting allows the mobile device to be tilted to a desired angle, and optionally provides wireless charging circuitry to enable charging of the device while mounted.

The auxiliary dashboard structure includes a first functional table mountedin an automobile cab and a second functional table positioned above the first functional table, a first storage box and a wireless charging device are arranged on the first functional table, the second functional table is provided with a second storage box and a gear part, the wireless charging device comprises a fixing piece and a wireless charging base electrically connected with an automobilestorage battery, and the wireless charging base, the fixing piece and the first functional table are fixedly connected with one another in sequence. The auxiliary dashboard structure has the advantages that the distribution design of the wireless charging base in the automobile cab is reasonable.

Abstract: A driver authentication system comprises a biometric reader 1, communication unit 4 for communication between remote data server 2 and biometric reader, and, a controller 3 which prevents a vehicle being driven until biometric data matches the stored data. The system can prevent unauthorised use of personal cars as well as commercial and fleet vehicles. A sensor unit 8, including a seat pressure sensor 10 and two door sensors 9a & 9b, can also be included that registers if a driver has left the vehicle and turn off the engine to prevent the vehicle being stolen mid-journey. A display 7 can be incorporated into the vehicle dashboard for use. The use of the remote server allows a user multiple access to vehicles and allows remote location identification, using the tracker 6, of any registered units without needing to alter vehicle hardware.

Abstract: The vehicular water-dispensing system is a water dispensing system adapted for use in a vehicle. Water is stored within a reservoir located in the trunk of the vehicle and may be pumped through a filter to one of two retractable hoses. One retractable hose is provided on each side of the dashboard and the retractable hoses may be pulled out of the dashboard to use. Each retractable hose terminates with a mouthpiece. When either retractable hose is released that hose is pulled back into the dashboard. When not in use, the retractable hoses are wound around spring-loaded reels. The vehicular water-dispensing system may further comprise a refrigeration system adjacent to the reservoir to chill the water.
