TL;DR: In this paper, the bottom and rear faces of the cowl box are defined by a dashboard upper panel, and an upper member for supporting the windshield is connected to a flange provided on the upper edge of the dashboard.
Abstract: An engine compartment is provided in front of a cowl box. The bottom and rear faces of the cowl box are defined by a dashboard upper panel. An upper member for supporting the windshield is connected to a flange provided on the upper edge of the dashboard upper panel. A lower member is connected to the upper member at a first end and to a wall of the dashboard upper panel at a second end to increase the rigidity of the windshield holding portion. The junction between the second end of the lower member with the wall of the dashboard upper panel being more fragile upon vehicular impact and resultant cowl box deformation than the connection of the dashboard upper panel upper edge flange and the upper member, allowing the upper member to remain engaged with the windshield. In an alternative embodiment, a junction of the dashboard upper panel and upper member is made most fragile.

TL;DR: In this article, a safety apparatus is designed to protect an occupant or occupants of a vehicle during a collision, which includes a safety device which is adapted to be mounted on an interior part of the vehicle.
Abstract: A safety apparatus is operable to protect an occupant or occupants of a vehicle during a collision. The safety apparatus includes a safety device which is adapted to be mounted on an interior part of the vehicle. The safety device comprises an energy-absorbing panel member which is releasably secured to an interior part of the vehicle and contoured so as to form a part of the interior design and means for moving the panel member relative to the occupant or occupants to restrain the same against movement during a collision and absorb the energy. The means for moving the panel comprises an expansible confinement secured to the inner side of the panel, the confinement when expanded moving the panel outwardly of the interior part. The safety device further includes a porous, energy absorbing cushion means disposed behind the panel for absorbing the energy of the occupant or occupants upon the latter impacting thereagainst when the confinement is not expanded. The panel may be located at any suitable location within the automobile. In the illustrated embodiments, the panel comprises a portion of the dashboard or the entire dashboard of the vehicle and/or a panel mounted on the front seat for protecting either the occupants sitting in the front or rear seat of the vehicle.

TL;DR: In this article, a mounting kit for mounting one of various types of radios or the like to support brackets in a vehicle is presented, which includes a radio housing, mounting brackets and shaft supports.
Abstract: A mounting kit for mounting one of various types of radios or the like to support brackets in a vehicle. The kit includes a radio housing, mounting brackets and shaft supports. The mounting brackets can be used with the radio housing to mount an ISO-DIN radio. The shaft supports can be used with the housing to mount a two-shaft radio. Only the radio housing need be used when installing a DIN radio with a DIN cage.

TL;DR: In this article, the most suitable natural fiber composite for automotive dashboard panel is determined by considering main criteria and sub-criteria in the hierarchy model, and the final decision was carried out by performing different scenarios of the sensitivity analysis in order to study the effect of the different factors on deciding a most suitable material.
Abstract: Material selection is an important process in the product development. To avoid inappropriate decision of materials, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) can be one of the useful tools for determining the most suitable material for automotive dashboard panel. In this project, database of material properties of natural fiber composites has been organized systematically. The material properties of natural fiber material involved are density, Young’s modulus and tensile strength. There are 29 types of natural fiber composites that have been considered in the application of AHP. The most suitable natural fiber composite for automotive dashboard panel is determined by considering main criteria and sub-criteria in the hierarchy model. The final decision was carried out by performing different scenarios of the sensitivity analysis in order to study the effect of the different factors on deciding the most suitable material.
