A Real-Time Monitoring Platform for Distributed Energy Resources in a Microgrid—Pilot Study in Oman

Abstract: This article presents the development of a platform for real-time monitoring of multi-microgrids. A small-scale platform has been developed and implemented as a prototype, which takes data from various types of devices located at a distance from each other. The monitoring platform is interoperable, as it allows several protocols to coexist. While the developed prototype is tested on small-scale distributed energy resources (DERs), it is done in a way to extend the concept for monitoring several microgrids in real scales. Monitoring strategies were developed for DERs by making a customized two-way communication channel between the microgrids and the monitoring center using a long-range bridged wireless local area network (WLAN). In addition, an informative and easy-to-use software dashboard was developed. The dashboard shows real-time information and measurements from the DERs—providing the user with a holistic view of the status of the DERs. The proposed system is scalable, modular, facilitates the interoperability of various types of inverters, and communicates data over a secure communication channel. All these features along with its relatively low cost make the developed real-time monitoring platform very useful for online monitoring of smart microgrids.

Abstract: The central control console (4) incorporates switch elements (8,10,12,13) and information and entertainment displays (7,9) and extends from the automobile dashboard (1) to fit between the front passenger seats, the entire control console adjustable in the direction of the autombile longitudinal axis via an electric and/or hydraulic positioning drive, e.g. by movement along a guide rail or guide rod.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a desk including a plurality of legs designed to support the desk on a floor surface, a planar surface substantially perpendicular to the legs and designed as a support surface for supporting various articles and to be used as a writing surface. Finally, the desk includes at its rearmost portion an upstanding structure which is made to resemble the dashboard of a vehicle including the visualization of an instrument panel, ventilation ducts and the like. The dashboard facing further includes a working high-fidelity stereo system which may include an AM-FM stereo receiver, tape deck, graphic equalizer and other stereo equipment as desired. Furthermore, at each end of the facing, speakers are mounted which are functional. If desired, the facing may include the visualization of a steering wheel, and the instrument visualization as well as the indicators for the stereo equipment may include selectively operable backlighting.

Data display device for a vehicular highway driver

Abstract: A vehicle data display device which draws the attention of the driver to a particular sector of the road scene, including an optical system that presents to the driver a reduced virtual image of the road scene embellished with a luminous signal. The luminous signal can be used to designate a target for the driver and can be under the control of an onboard driving assistance system. The vehicle data display device can be integrated into the steering column or dashboard of the vehicle and facilitates perception of driving assistance or navigational data without the driver having to turn his attention away from the road.

Abstract: Vehicle dashboard display has a light source arranged behind one or more indicators with a display panel in front of the indicators. On the side of the panel facing the vehicle occupants is a frosted surface with surface markings for the various instrument displays. An Independent claim is made for a manufacturing method for a dashboard display in which instrument markings on a display panel are made with various surface structures. The surface markings can be created using laser or heat treatment or a combination. Alternately etching or painting can be used.
