TL;DR: It is argued that developing efficient data access and data management techniques is key in solving the problem of interactive visualization of massive models.
Abstract: Interactive visualization of massive models still remains a challenging problem. This is mainly due to a combination of ever increasing model complexity with the current hardware design trend that leads to a widening gap between slow data access speed and fast data processing speed. We argue that developing efficient data access and data management techniques is key in solving the problem of interactive visualization of massive models. Particularly, we discuss visibility culling, simplification, cache-coherent layouts, and data compression techniques as efficient data management techniques that enable interactive visualization of massive models.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method are disclosed for utilizing compression in database caches to facilitate access to database information, and this effective increase in database cache size can greatly enhance the operations per second capability of a database management system by reducing unnecessary disk or network accesses thereby reducing data access times.
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for utilizing compression in database caches to facilitate access to database information. In contrast with applying compression to the database that is stored on disk, the present invention achieves performance advantages by using compression within the main memory database cache used by a database management system to manage data transfers to and from a physical database file stored on a storage system or stored on a networked attached device or node. The disclosed system and method thereby provide a significant technical advantage by increasing the effective database cache size. And this effective increase in database cache size can greatly enhance the operations-per-second capability of a database management system by reducing unnecessary disk or network accesses thereby reducing data access times.

TL;DR: In this article, the use of access authority information units to gain access to the positive identification system solves the problems of open, unsecured and unauditable access to data for use in point of use identification systems.
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method of providing system integrity and positive audit capabilities to a positive identification system. The use of access authority information units to gain access to the positive identification system solves the problems of open, unsecured and unauditable access to data for use in point of use identification systems. In order to secure the rights to the data that is needed to make mass identification systems operate, it must be shown that records will be closed and secure, as well as that there will be an audit trail of access that is made to the data. This system solves those problems through the use of a system and method for identification with biometric data and/or personal identification numbers and/or personalized devices embedded with codes unique to their assigned users.

TL;DR: In this article, a method and a system for accessing data in a computer-based data processing system is described, which comprises the steps of initiating and maintaining data access nodes in a variable access structure.
Abstract: A method and a system for accessing data in a computer-based data processing system is described. The method comprises the steps of initiating and maintaining data access nodes in a variable access structure. Each access node is provided with references to other access nodes and/or to data items representing an object, each data item carrying only the amount of information which is relevant for its purpose. The data items or the references are provided with a time parameter thus enabling version control and the possibility to handle static or slowly changing data and frequently changed and updated data in a corresponding manner. The access nodes comprise access control parameters for access control from a safety point of view as well as for enabling different views of the access structure and underlying data and objects.
