TL;DR: This paper sketches the architecture and the functional features of Tamino, and justifies its various design decisions for HTTP-based access to data represented in XML.
Abstract: Software AG's Tamino is a novel database server designed to fit the needs of electronic business and worldwide information exchange via the Internet. It is not just an on-top solution based on a database system originally designed for use in other application areas. Rather, it is entirely designed for the specific scenario of HTTP-based access to data represented in XML. These data can stem from various sources, and can be combined on the fly when a corresponding request is encountered. This paper sketches the architecture and the functional features of Tamino, and justifies its various design decisions.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a secure access protocol for data stored in electronic devices using a smart security management server (SSMS) and a user individual key is obtained from the server when successful user authentication is determined, and used for decryption of encrypted data.
Abstract: The method involves establishing connection between an electronic device (2) and a smart security management server (SSMS) (3). The user of electronic device connected to server is authenticated. A user individual key is obtained from server when successful user authentication is determined, and is used for decryption of encrypted data stored in electronic device. The decrypted data is used for communication of electronic device. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a computer program for performing secure access of data in electronic device; (2) a data carrier device storing program for performing secure access of data in electronic device; and (3) a system for performing secure access of data in electronic device.

TL;DR: The usage of an abstract data exchange format for an automatic configuration of a production monitoring and control system that re-uses already existing engineering information stored in a standardized and system-independent data format like CAEX is presented.
Abstract: This contribution presents the usage of an abstract data exchange format for an automatic configuration of a production monitoring and control system. The automatic configuration procedure re-uses already existing engineering information stored in a standardized and system-independent data format like CAEX. Standard data formats enable - beside the possibility of reaching a transparent engineering value creation chain - the data access of computational algorithms which automatically analyze those data and automatically create engineering results out of them. Standard data formats are a key for the idea of ldquoautomation of automationrdquo. The concept is exemplarily implemented and explained by means of the configuration of ProVis.Agentreg and ProVis.Visureg using CAEX.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compare data sharing to the exchange of patents based on the FRAND principles, and suggest a possible way for self-regulation to provide more transparency and fairness in the growing markets for data sharing.
Abstract: Data-driven markets depend on access to data as a resource for products and services. Since the quality of information that can be drawn from data increases with the available amount and quality of the data, businesses involved in the data economy have a great interest in accessing data from other market players. However, companies still appear to be reluctant to share their data. Therefore, the key question is how data sharing can be incentivized. This article focuses on data sharing platforms, which are emerging as new intermediaries and can play a vital role in the data economy, as they may increase willingness to share data. By comparing data sharing to the exchange of patents based on the FRAND principles, this article suggests a possible way for self-regulation to provide more transparency and fairness in the growing markets for data sharing.

TL;DR: A blockchain-based data usage auditing architecture ensuring availability and accountability in a privacy-preserving fashion and based on cryptographic mechanisms, preserves privacy of data owners and ensures secrecy for shared data with multiple service providers.
Abstract: Recent years have witnessed the trend of increasingly relying on distributed infrastructures. This increased the number of reported incidents of security breaches compromising users' privacy, where third parties massively collect, process and manage users' personal data. Towards these security and privacy challenges, we combine hierarchical identity based cryptographic mechanisms with emerging blockchain infrastructures and propose a blockchain-based data usage auditing architecture ensuring availability and accountability in a privacy-preserving fashion. Our approach relies on the use of auditable contracts deployed in blockchain infrastructures. Thus, it offers transparent and controlled data access, sharing and processing, so that unauthorized users or untrusted servers cannot process data without client's authorization. Moreover, based on cryptographic mechanisms, our solution preserves privacy of data owners and ensures secrecy for shared data with multiple service providers. It also provides auditing authorities with tamper-proof evidences for data usage compliance.
