TL;DR: The architecture proposed here is a system architecture based on the use of several processors, which make it possible to perform independent functions of the system concurrently, and is based on microprogramming principles.

Abstract: This paper presents a hierarchical firmware design method. It allows to structure the design of a microprogrammed (level of a) computer architecture into independently verifiable modules. To specify the behaviour of the system we use the axiomatic architecture description language AADL. We illustrate the design and specification style using an emulation example.

TL;DR: This paper examines VHLL architectures and VLSI architectures and their probable influences on Fifth Generation computers; the major problem for both architecture classes is parallelism; how to orchestrate a single parallel computation so that it can be distributed across an ensemble of processors.
