TL;DR: In this paper, a general framework for the design of compensators for linear multivariable systems is given, based on the notion of a "(C,A,B )-pair of subspaces." This concept is newly defined here, and given its simplest application (to the problem of disturbance decoupling by observation feedback).
Abstract: This paper gives a general framework (in the geometric style) for the design of compensators for linear multivariable systems. Basic is the notion of a "( C,A,B )-pair of subspaces." This concept is newly defined here, and we give its simplest application (to the problem of disturbance decoupling by observation feedback). We then formulate a general compensator synthesis principle and show how several well-known synthesis techniques can be derived from it. We also show that "almost all" compensators can be interpreted as observer-based compensators, and discuss the relation between the compensator problem and the stable cover problem.

TL;DR: In this article, a control law for decoupling rotor angle and field flux is derived and a servocompensator consisting of strings of integrators in the outer ioop around the decoupled inner loop is proposed.
Abstract: Modern microprocessor capabilities permit the control designer to consider using relatively complicated nonlinear control algorithms, which would have been considered impractical in the past. The paper presents the results of a study of the potential usefulness of nonlinear decoupling algorithms for the design of excitation and governor controllers for a power system using state-variable feedback. A control law for decoupling rotor angle and field flux is derived. For the rejection of load disturbance, the design of a servocompensator consisting of strings of integrators in the outer ioop around the decoupled inner loop is proposed. The closed-loop system is shown to be asymptotically stable. The system can be transferred to a new operating condition corresponding to any desired terminal voltage Vt and tie-line power Ptie The simulation results using a first-order compensator show that system asymptotically tracks the desired Vt and Ptie under unknown piecewise constant disturbances. Results show good transient and steady-state responses in rotor angle, field flux and frequency. Steady-state errors in Vt and Ptie owing to parameter uncertainty are reduced to zero by changing the command inputs using an external loop. The effect of stochastic load on the response is small.

Abstract: In an NMR probe containing an observe coil and a decoupling coil, the signal-to-noise ratio of the observe channel is improved by inserting a back-to-back parallel combination of diodes in series with the decoupling coil to present an infinite impedance in the decoupling channel in its passive state for induced RF signals from the observe coil.

Abstract: For plants with invertible transfer matrices, now necessary and sufficient conditions are given for decoupling by constant gain output feedback and by dynamic output feedback. If the latter are not met, a dynamic pre-compensator is required. Design techniques associated with the approach are discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, a transistor having a selectively saturated emitter collector path is protected from failure by decoupling a source of operating voltage and current from the emitter path and/or from the drive current.
Abstract: A transistor having a selectively saturated emitter collector path is protected. The emitter collector voltage level is sensed as being greater than a predetermined level to indicate saturation as is the presence and absence of drive current to the base. In response to the transistor not being activated to saturation while the drive current is applied to the base, a fault indication is derived. In response to the fault being indicated, the transistor is prevented from conducting by decoupling a source of operating voltage and current from the emitter collector path and/or decoupling the drive current from the base.

TL;DR: In this article, a combination lock has a keyboard for entering signal patterns and a comparator compares both patterns and unlocks the lock if they are identical, and a delay switch delays the unlocking of the lock after the two patterns have been found identical.
Abstract: The combination lock has a keyboard for entering signal patterns. A memory stores reference patterns and, unlike the keyboard, is not accessible from outside the device. A comparator compares both patterns and unlocks the lock if they are identical. The user can enter a new reference pattern into the memory via the keyboard when he has unlocked the lock and when a switch inside the device has been switched to 'insert new pattern'. A delay switch delays the unlocking of the lock after the two patterns have been found identical. A decoupling circuit decouples the externally-accessible keyboard from the externally-inaccessible circuitry which includes memory, comparator, switch, unlocking devices etc.

Abstract: A decoupling arrangement for non-insulated track circuits is disclosed wherein the receiving circuit of the evaluating unit for the AC track currents is electrically separated from the traction-current-carrying parts of the track. The cross bonds between the two rails of a track may be shorting bonds or so-called S bonds. The arrangement according to the invention improves the tuning behavior of the track circuit receivers considerably.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a momentary increase in sound volume and the generation of noise due to the operation stop of a high frequency circuit by attenuating the output signal of a low-frequency amplifier according to the operation state of the high-frequency oscillation circuit of a microphone device CONSTITUTION:A resistance R1 and a capacitor C1 in the microphone device constitute the power source decoupling of an audio amplifier 103, and a resistance R2 and a capacitor C2 constitute the power source decoupling of high-frequency circuits 104-106 When a push button 110 is released during simultaneous sound recording and photography to open a switch 109, the capacitor C2 of the high-frequency oscillation circuit is discharged instantaneously and a relay contact is broken to stop the photography of a camera immediately On the other hand, the base potential of a transistor TRQ1 drops by the discharging of the capacitor C2 to turn on the TRQ1, and then a TRQ2 also turns off Therefore, the output signal of an amplifier 103 is attenuated by a resistance R3 and the TRQ2 and its supply to a modulator 105 is cut off right after the switch 109 is released

TL;DR: The mathematical model of the industrial robot is the base for designing his control and the decoupling can be considered as a feedforward compensation of disturbances and aFeedforward adaptive control.
Abstract: The mathematical model of the industrial robot is the base for designing his control. The model is a nonlinear coupled system of 2. order with state variables as output. Decoupling is achieved by choosing the actuating signal as it is given by the equations describing the motion of the robot. The decoupling can be considered as a feedforward compensation of disturbances and a feedforward adaptive control. After decoupling one gets decoupled double integrators.

TL;DR: In this article, a nonconductive casing defining an interior casing cavity is separated into an upper and a lower portion by means of a perforated plate extending horizontally across the cavity.
Abstract: An ink jet printer includes a charge decoupling device which permits fluid flow of electrically conductive fluid between a high voltage electrode and a grounded fluid reservoir while presenting a high impedance electrical path therebetween. The charge decoupling arrangement includes a nonconductive casing defining an interior casing cavity which is separated into an upper and a lower portion by means of a perforated plate extending horizontally across the cavity. A plurality of drop stabilizers are mounted adjacent associated ones of the perforations to define downwardly extending capillary fluid paths from the perforations into the lower portion of the cavity to form fluid drops which drip off of the bottoms of the stabilizers. The break up of the fluid into drops provides the high impedance path through the charge decoupling device, thus ensuring that the deflection electrode arrangement and the catchers are substantially electrically isolated.

TL;DR: In this article, a practical system consisting of a motor-generator machine set controlled by thyristor amplifiers was examined, and a decoupling strategy with adaptive properties was applied to this system.
Abstract: Relatively few experimental applications of decoupling theory to actual systems are recorded in the literature. It was decided, therefore, to examine a practical system consisting of a motor-generator machine set controlled by thyristor amplifiers, and to apply a decoupling strategy with adaptive properties to this system. A mathematical model of the coupled system was produced and validated from open-loop steady-state and transient characteristics. The system equations were arranged in state-variable form, and a strategy for decoupling this linearised system was developed theoretically and later confirmed by analogue simulation and actual system tests. It was then necessary to extend this linearised model theory to obtain a generalised nonlinear control strategy in terms of the system output variables; the elements of the feedback and feedforward matrices were made to adapt to the nonlinear effects within the system. Satisfactory decoupling of the appropriate state variables, together with eigenvalue ass...
