Abstract: A silicon microstrip detector with capacitive coupling of the diode strips to the metallization and with individual polysilicon resistors to each diode has been developed. The detector was tested in a minimum ionizing particle beam showing a performance similar to conventional strip detectors and a spatial resolution of 3.5 μm. Capacitive coupling allows the decoupling of the leakage current from the input to the charge sensitive preamplifier especially in the case of LSI electronics.

TL;DR: In this article, a controlled CMOS substrate voltage generator generates a rectangular wave pulse which is supplied to the pumping circuit by a pumping capacitor and controlled decoupling members, which are activated by a control circuit and are completely opened, so that the full pumping lift is completely utilized without reduction due to threshold voltages.
Abstract: A controlled CMOS substrate voltage generator generates a rectangular wave pulse which is supplied to the pumping circuit by a pumping capacitor and controlled decoupling members. At the same time the decoupling members are activated by a control circuit and are completely opened, so that the full pumping lift is completely utilized without reduction due to threshold voltages. In order to reduce the injection of charge carriers of nCMOS decoupling members, inversely activated pMOS decoupling members, which are strongly conducting at low substrate bias voltage near 0V, are connected in parallel to the latter. To increase performance, the circuit is designed as a circuit in phase opposition. Improved sensors are provided, which during the active phase maintain the shift of the substrate voltage produced upon wobble of the bit strings toward more negative values by alternation of the reference voltage of the sensor.

TL;DR: In this paper, a random access memory cell is represented by two parallel legs each containing a series pair of complementary MOS transistors having a common gate connected to the node between the transistors of the opposite leg.
Abstract: In a random access memory cell, a resistance "T" decoupling network in each leg of the cell reduces random errors caused by the interaction of energetic ions with the semiconductor material forming the cell. The cell comprises two parallel legs each containing a series pair of complementary MOS transistors having a common gate connected to the node between the transistors of the opposite leg. The decoupling network in each leg is formed by a series pair of resistors between the transistors together with a third resistor interconnecting the junction between the pair of resistors and the gate of the transistor pair forming the opposite leg of the cell.

TL;DR: In this article, a decoupling self-tuning controller is presented that is capable of handling unknown or time-varying time delays, and simulation studies utilizing two distillation column models show that the controller can provide excellent control even for highly nonlinear and highly interacting processes.
Abstract: A new method to design adaptive, self-tuning controllers is presented that incorporates decoupling for multivariable control problems. The algorithm is shown to result from two very different derivations. The first approach employs multiple single-input/single-output self-tuning controllers but with a classical decoupling scheme incorporated; the second approach utilizes a novel selection of design parameters in an existing multivariable self-tuning control method. The decoupling self-tuning controller is capable of handling unknown or time-varying time delays. Simulation studies utilizing two distillation column models show that the controller can provide excellent control even for highly nonlinear and highly interacting processes.

Abstract: In this paper the decoupling problem of the general muitivariable analytic nonlinear system of the form [xdot] = ƒ(x, u), y = h(x,u) is discussed, where the state space is a real analytic manifold. Sufficient and necessary conditions for decoupling by state feedback combined with compensation and state feedback only are represented, A sufficient and necessary condition for stable decoupling is also derived. For decouplable systems the synthesis procedure is represented.

Abstract: The block decoupling of a linear right-invertible system by dynamic compensation is studied. The system structure of the block-decoupled system is clarified from the viewpoint of the closed-loop poles. A dynamic compensator that realizes block decoupling and arbitrary pole assignment is proposed. Two examples are given to illustrate the design procedure of the dynamic compensator and its effectiveness.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for improving the decoupling between transmission and reception antennas of a radio-altimeter system in which the spurious coupling effect between antennas of "patch" type is due mainly to the crossed-polarisation mode of propagation is presented.
Abstract: Method for improving the decoupling between transmission and reception antennas of a radio-altimeter system in which the spurious coupling effect between antennas of "patch" type is due mainly to the crossed-polarisation mode of propagation. To this end, another spurious coupling mode of opposite modulus and opposite phase is superimposed on this spurious mode by effecting in each of the said antennas a coupling between two contiguous radiating elements 3, the said coupling being repeatable over several element pairs. Various coupling modes can be produced: capacitive coupling 5, high-impedance line coupling 6, "gap" coupling 7, coupling on the normal mode of propagation along a radiating element 9 etc. The coupling levels thus produced are adjusted experimentally in amplitude and in phase. Application to radio communications.

TL;DR: This tutorial demonstrates the usefulness of nonlinear decoupling in the context of drug delivery using simple examples and demonstrates that nonlinearDecoupling can be applied using basic calculus.
Abstract: The design of nonlinear, time varying, multivariable, coupled system is a complicated task which offers few intuitive guides. Such guides are by contrast abundant in the much simpler task of designing a linear decoupled control system. Decoupling also allows the independent control of the system outputs in the presence of input interactions. The implications of these ideas in the design of control systems for continuous drug infusion have never been explored. This tutorial demonstrates the usefulness of nonlinear decoupling in the context of drug delivery using simple examples. First, decoupling by differentiation of the output equation is demonstrated. Next, two special cases where decoupling is achievable by input redefinition ann by input and state redefinition are given. Finally, limitations of the approach are discussed together with ongoing research to overcome them. The presentation avoids complex mathematical derivations and demonstrates that nonlinear decoupling can be applied using basic calculus.

TL;DR: In this article, the dynamic characteristics of flexible robotic arms of the second degree-of-freedom system are modelled with consideration of the coupling between the firs and second arms, under the assumption that each arm vibrates only due to the bending moments.
Abstract: Dynamic characteristics of flexible robotic arms of the second degree-of-freedom system are modelled with consideration of the coupling between the firs and second arms, which was not dealt with in the previous paper, under the assumption that each arm vibrates only due to the bending moments. In order to suppress vibrations in positioning control, basic characteristics of flexible robotic arms must be employed for the decoupling control. Thus, the flexible arm is modelled by taking account of the inertial moments of the rigid body at each joint based on the unconstrained mode method. A control method is proposed by employing the feedback decoupling control method to compensate the coupling effects between the flexible robotic arms. Some experimental results demonstrate the effects of the proposed control method.

TL;DR: In this article, a decoupling resistor is inserted between the output terminal of a constant voltage source 8 and the node of load 2 and a smoothing capacitor 9 in series and the current flowing to the load 2 from the voltage source8 is measured by a current measuring device 4.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To contrive to increase a testing speed, by inspecting a decoupling resistor between the node of load and a smoothing capacitor and a constant voltage output terminal. CONSTITUTION:A decoupling resistor 15 is inserted between the output terminal of a constant voltage source 8 and the node of load 2 and a smoothing capacitor 9 in series and the current flowing to the load 2 from the voltage source 8 is measured by a current measuring device 4. In this case, impedance when the voltage source 8 looked the load 2 becomes high in frequency and looks constant by the impedance of the resistor 15 not dependent on frequency even if the impedance of the capacitor 9 approaches zero. Therefore, the voltage source 8 looks constant in a load condition even with respect to high frequency and the capacity of a phase compensating capacitor 13 can be set small. As a result, the time constant of the capacitor 13 is made small to make it possible to shorten a discharge time and the increase in a testing speed is attained.

Abstract: To achieve decoupling between the data part (1, 2) of a control unit and the power part (3) of the peripheral equipment, an intermediate circuit (4) with Schmitt trigger behaviour is used. The intermediate circuit (4) is triggered via high-resistance barrier resistors (5), by a logic unit (2), to couple to the bus. The intermediate circuit (4) also has a blocking input (4A), which is affected via voltage dividing resistors (R1/R2) by the operating voltage (US) of the output circuit and the internal logical earth (VSS), so that unacceptable earth displacements are stabilised.

Abstract: A decoupling approach to disturbance and vibration isolation in large space stations composed of modules interconnected by flexible members is proposed. A simplified mathematical model for the motion of the space station core and a laboratory module with both torsional vibration and translational motion decouplers is used in this study. The dynamic behavior of the model in the presence of decoupler friction is analyzed. Estimates for the maximum excursions of the laboratory module induced by various types of external disturbance are derived. The paper concludes with a simulation study involving the hard-docking of a space shuttle with a space station.
