Abstract: Dendrobium gibsonii , an Orchidaceae plant yielded the first natural fluorenone derivatives designated dengibsin and dengibsinin to which 1,5-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-9-fluorenone ( 1 ) and 1,6-dihydroxy-5, 7-dimethoxy-9-fluorenonc ( 2 ) structures have been assigned respectively. The structures are fully supported by the 1 H-NMR , IR , UV and MS spectral data of dengibsin and dengibsnin and a number of their pertinent derivatives. Aurantiamide acetate, dimethyl terephthalate and β-sitosterol have been isolated as the other constituents.

TL;DR: Two new compounds, dihydrodengibsinin and dendrogibsol, were isolated from the whole plant of Dendrobium gibsonii, together with seven known compounds and it was revealed that dendrogramibsol is a noncompetitive inhibitor of α-glucosidase.

Abstract: Two new compounds, dihydrodengibsinin (1) and dendrogibsol (2), were isolated from the whole plant of Dendrobium gibsonii, together with seven known compounds (3-9). The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by their spectroscopic data. All these isolates were evaluated for their α-glucosidase inhibitory activities. Dendrogibsol (2) and lusianthridin (7) showed strong α-glucosidase inhibitory activity when compared with acarbose. An enzyme kinetic study revealed that dendrogibsol (2) is a noncompetitive inhibitor of α-glucosidase.

Abstract: The invention provides a tissue culture propagation method for dendrobium gibsonii lindl. The tissue culture propagation method comprises the following steps: (1) taking newly-sprouted tender buds of healthy plants of the dendrobium gibsonii lindl as explants and disinfecting; (2) putting the disinfected explants into an MS basic culture medium to be induced to obtain sterile test tube seedlings; and (3) putting the sterile test tube seedlings into an MS propagation culture medium to perform rapid propagation culture of the test tube seedlings to obtain cluster buds. With the adoption of the culture method provided by the invention, the growth coefficient of the obtained cluster buds of the dendrobium gibsonii lindl can be increased by 20-28 times, high-quality dendrobium gibsonii lindl germchits with a high survival rate can be provided in short time, and a large-scale seedling growing problem of the dendrobium gibsonii lindl is effectively solved.
