TL;DR: In this paper, 3-Amino-3-deoxy-D-ribose and Dribose were prepared from a derivative of D-xylose, which yielded D-riboses on hydrolysis.
Abstract: 3-Amino-3-deoxy-D-ribose and D-ribose were prepared from a derivative of D-xylose. 1,2-O-Isopropylidene-5-O-triphenylmethyl-α-D-xylofuranose (2) was oxidized by dimethyl sulfoxide – acetic anhydride to 1,2-O-isopropylidene-5-O-triphenylmethyl-α-D-erythro-pentofuranos-3-ulose (3). The oxime (4) of this 3-keto sugar derivative was reduced with lithium aluminium hydride to 3-amino-3-deoxy-1,2-O-isopropylidene-5-O-triphenylmethyl-α-D-ribofuranose (5), isolated as the acetamido derivative (6). Hydrolysis yielded 3-amino-3-deoxy-D-ribose hydrochloride. 3 was reduced by sodium borohydride to 1,2-O-isopropylidene-5-O-triphenylmethyl-α-D-ribofuranose (7), which yielded D-ribose on hydrolysis.

Abstract: 2-Methyl-2-[p-(1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-naphthyl)-phenoxy]-propion-saure (CIBA 13,437-Su)stellt ein oral aktives Tetralin-Derivat dar, welches ausgepragte Blutlipid-senkende Eigenschaften besitzt. Die hypolipidaemische Wirkung wurde bei mehreren Spezies untersucht und umfasste sowohl Cholesterin wie Glyzeride.

TL;DR: In this article, it was proposed that these salts result from an intramolecular reaction of initially formed alkylation products, in which case the initial alkyl product undergoes an intramerolecular condensation with subsequent hydrogen chloride elimination.

TL;DR: According to the results mostly deduced from nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectral analyses, licoricidin would be represented as being 3', 6-diisopentenyl-2', 4', 5-trihydroxy-7-methoxyisoflavan (IXa).
Abstract: A new isoflavan derivative, licoricidin, C25H32O5, mp 161-162.5°, [α]22.5°D+20° (MeOH) was isolated from licorice root. According to the results mostly deduced from nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectral analyses, licoricidin would be represented as being 3', 6-diisopentenyl-2', 4', 5-trihydroxy-7-methoxyisoflavan (IXa).

09 May 1968TL;DR: In this paper, the process for extraction and purification of phosphoric acid from impure solutions of acid attack of phosphate rock is described, where the impure solution is first passed in countercurrent flow with an alkyl derivative of the acid acid for removal of the removed acid from the impured solution.
Abstract: The process for extraction and purification of phosphoric acid from impure solutions of phosphoric acid derived by acid attack of phosphate rock wherein the impure solution is first passed in countercurrent flow with an alkyl derivative of phosphoric acid for removal of phosphoric acid from the impure solution and then passing the alkyl phosphoric acid derivative containing the removed phosphoric acid in countercurrent flow with an aqueous medium whereby the latter removes purified phosphoric acid from the solution.

TL;DR: The chlorinated monoanthrone derivative is the first case in natural products.
Abstract: Several new pigments produced by a fungus A spergillus fumigatus (J-4) were studied. The structures were determined as 2-chloro-1, 3, 8-trihydroxy-6-methylanthrone (9) (I), 2-chloro-1, 3, 8-trihydroxy-6-methylanthraquinone (II), 2-chloro-1, 3, 8-trihydroxy-6-hydroxymethylanthraquinone (III) and emodin. The chlorinated monoanthrone derivative is the first case in natural products. When Cl- was replaced by Br-in the medium, the fungus produced corresponding brominated anthrone (IV).

TL;DR: The structure of 1,3- or 1,5-Cyclo-Octadiene has been confirmed by single-crystal X-ray analysis in this article, based on infrared, proton magnetic resonance, and mass spectra.
Abstract: 1,3- or 1,5-Cyclo-octadiene undergoes transannular dehydrogenation with decacarbonyldirhenium to give the bicyclic derivative, tricarbonyltrimethylene-1,2-cyclopentadienylrhenium(I), C8H9Re(CO)3. The structure of the product, suggested on the basis of infrared, proton magnetic resonance, and mass spectra, has been confirmed by single-crystal X-ray analysis. The Re(CO)3 group is bonded to the cyclopentadienyl ring in the same way as in many [M(CO)3Arene] complexes.

TL;DR: In this article, the preparation of 5-methyl-3-phenylisothiazole-4-carboxylic acid (Xa) and related compounds are described.
Abstract: Preparations of 5-methyl-3-phenylisothiazole-4-carboxylic acid (Xa) and related compounds are described. 3-(Halogen-substituted phenyl)-5-methylisothiazole-4-carboxylic acids were also obtained by halogenation of 4-cyano-5-methyl-3-phenylisothiazole (VIIa), followed by hydrolysis. 5-Bromo-3-phenylisothiazole-4-carboxylic acid (XV) was prepared, and converted into the 5-methylthio derivative (XVI) which was oxidized to the corresponding sulfoxide (XVII) and sulfone (XVIII).
