TL;DR: In this paper, the response of a loaded, high-pressure hydraulic on-off servomechanism to sinusoidal and transient input signals is investigated, where the system is subject to velocity limitation and force reversal does not normally occur during a half-period of the input excitation.
Abstract: : The paper is concerned with the response of a loaded, high-pressure hydraulic on-off servomechanism to sinusoidal and transient input signals. The hydraulic system is of conventional closed-loop configuration with the exception of the power element. This element is a solenoid-operated, on-off valve which is activated by electromechanical relays. The load is comprised of a mass, very heavy viscous damping and Coulomb friction. The system is subject to velocity limitation, and force reversal does not normally occur during a half-period of the input excitation. The describing function technique is used to evaluate the frequency response and piecewise linearization to evaluate the transient response. Experimental verification is included. (Author)

TL;DR: In this article, a method using describing functions is proposed to analyze frequency oscillations with multiple intentional governor deadbands, including non-step and step implementations, where the deadbands are represented as gains of their describing functions dependent on frequency amplitudes.

01 Aug 2011TL;DR: The describing function of a MOM device V-I characteristic is calculated step by step, and also the stability of MLC circuits when the memristor is time varying is discussed.
Abstract: This paper reports results from the ongoing research on MOM devices as nonlinear analog blocks in circuits and systems. Here the describing function of a MOM device V-I characteristic is calculated step by step, and also the stability of MLC circuits when the memristor is time varying is discussed.

05 Mar 2012TL;DR: The main purpose of this paper is to illustrate the capabilities of the two-relay controller to induce oscillations in dynamical systems.
Abstract: A tool for designing a periodic motion in underactuated systems, by generating a self-excited oscillation of a desired amplitude and frequency, driven by a variable structure control is reviewed. The main purpose of this paper is to illustrate the capabilities of the two-relay controller to induce oscillations in dynamical systems. In this paper, we overview three methods to set the frequency and amplitude of oscillation: describing function, LPRS, and Poincare´ maps. Theoretical and practical open problems are also discussed.
