Abstract: An improved procedure for the preparation of phenylphosphine from the reduction of dichlorophenylphosphine with LiAlH4. is described. This synthesis results in a marked increase in the percent yield, 91–94%, when compared to previous methods. A technique for the elimination of toxic and noxious vapors is also described.
