TL;DR: A framework was developed to help assess communications service quality in a manner that most closely reflects the broad array of performance parameters experienced by customers, adding to the thoroughness with which service providers and customers alike assess the quality of communications services.
Abstract: A framework is described that was developed to help assess communications service quality in a manner that most closely reflects the broad array of performance parameters experienced by customers. Examples of its application are presented. An additional benefit experienced with the use of this framework is a more consistent, disciplined analysis of service parameters, adding to the thoroughness with which service providers and customers alike assess the quality of communications services. >

TL;DR: This paper shows how OSI architectural concept of service can be expressed using the specification language CCITT-SDL, with the introduction of a generalized form of the well-known time-sequence diagrams.
Abstract: This paper shows how OSI architectural concept of service can be expressed using the specification language CCITT-SDL. Some general remarks about service specification using asynchronously communicating processes are followed by the introduction of a generalized form of the well-known time-sequence diagrams. This generalized form of time-sequence diagrams is is especially suitable for the semi-formal description of services rendered by asynchronously communicating service providers. Two examples, a Data Link and a Network service, show the application of the concepts developed here.

TL;DR: In this article, a service control node is equipped with the service control functions of an exchange node (a) and an exchange nodes (b) to allocate a uniquely recognizable network call number (NCR) in a communication network to the said call, a means to store an additional service using condition, and a mean to circulate the NCR between the nodes by the call concerned to the exchange node.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To attain wide service competitive check by recognizing the additional service generated at different nodes caused by a single call. CONSTITUTION: A service control node is equipped with the service control functions of an exchange node (a) and an exchange node (b). When the additional service is generated at the service control node, a means to allocate a uniquely recognizable network call number(NCR) in a communication network to the said call, a means to store an additional service using condition, and a means to circulate the NCR between the nodes by the call concerned to the exchange node are provided. When the new additional service is generated in the call concerned, the service control node reads the additional service using condition of the call concerned by the notified NCR, and the competitive check is executed by additional service competitive condition defined beforehand for the existing additional service and a newly additional service classification. Thus, whether the newly additional service generated at the different node is accepted or rejected is determined. COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
