TL;DR: This paper proposes a new method that reselects and rebinds service components based on context change and shows the effectiveness and practicality of the new method.
Abstract: This paper shows the effectiveness of dynamic over of service components for ubiquitous service composition. Although context-aware services are expected in the forthcoming ubiquitous computing era, conventional service coordination techniques are insufficient because of rigid interface designing. To cope with this problem, we have established a flexible service composition framework, where a semantic-level service scenario is translated and its components are dynamically found, selected, and bound. User situations change with time, so service components should be changed in accordance with context change. We propose a new method that reselects and rebinds service components based on context change. Through a performance measurement, we show the effectiveness and practicality of the new method.

TL;DR: A simple model is derived to mathematically analyze the service differentiation achievable with arbitration IFS (AIFS), such as weight- or priorityproportional throughputs, and then verify its effectiveness via simulation, which confirmed the correctness of the proposed control scheme, and demonstrated its effectiveness.
Abstract: A novel channel access control for the IEEE 802.11 wireless standard is proposed to provide differentiated service in a wireless LAN. It relies on controlling the length of the inter-frame space (IFS) interval, during which a station has to detect a quiet channel before decrementing its backoff time. We derive a simple model to mathematically analyze the service differentiation achievable with arbitration IFS (AIFS), such as weight- or priorityproportional throughputs, and then verify its effectiveness via simulation. The simulation results confirmed the correctness of the proposed control scheme, and demonstrated its effectiveness. A small difference between stations' IFS values is shown to make substantial service differentiation between them. This, in turn, reduces the channel idle time which could be very long if the control relies on the commonly-used contention window size, rather than IFS. The proposed scheme, therefore, achieves higher channel utilization, especially when the total number of stations is not large.

TL;DR: This paper devises techniques to automatically gather, discover, and integrate features related to a set of WSDL files, and cluster them intonaturally occurring groups.
Abstract: Contemplating the enormous success of the Web and the reluctancein taking up the web service technology, the idea of a serviceengine enabled service-oriented architecture seems to be more and moreplausible than the traditional registry based one. Automatically clusteringWSDL files on the Web into functional similar homogenous servicegroups can be seen as a bootstrapping step for creating a service searchengine and at the same time reduce the search space for service discovery. This paper devises techniques to automatically gather, discover, andintegrate features related to a set of WSDL files, and cluster them intonaturally occurring groups.

TL;DR: A customized telecommunication service comprising a service related component, referred to as a service shell, and a number of customization parts open to customization by a service provider is described in this paper.
Abstract: A customized telecommunication service comprising a service related component, referred to as a service shell, and a number of customization parts open to customization by a service provider. The service shell is designed by a system vendor with due consideration taken to the fact that the service must not interfere in a non-desired way with other existing services. The service shell comprises customization points to which the customization parts are added. Each customization point comprises an individual customization interface defining the scope of actions open to customization in the service shell. The service provider selects, among the actions, those which will build the desired function of the customization part.

TL;DR: A novel architecture of autonomic resource management framework based on virtualized service-oriented computing (SOC) environment is presented and provides probabilistic performance guarantees and considers non-steady-state behavior assisted by admission control.
Abstract: Large data centers usually host many different services on a shared computing infrastructure, for which on-demand resource management is necessary to maximize providers' revenues by meeting service quality targets at least operational cost. This paper presents a novel architecture of autonomic resource management framework based on virtualized service-oriented computing (SOC) environment. A non-linear continuous optimization problem is defined for adaptive resource allocation and a model-based approach is adopted to solve this problem. Different from traditional approaches, the analytic model we established provides probabilistic performance guarantees and considers non-steady-state behavior assisted by admission control. Results of prototype experiments demonstrate that the performance of multiple services has been greatly improved by taking advantage of fine-grained resource sharing, while incurring much lower resource usage cost. Also, differentiated service qualities could be provided to different client classes through our dynamic resource allocation scheme.
