TL;DR: In this article, a service aggregation platform can encode a service delivery profile to manage the delivery of support services to both vendors, such as independent software vendors (ISVs), and their users in a cloud-based network or networks.
Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for service aggregation using graduated service levels in a cloud network. In embodiments, a service aggregation platform can encode a service delivery profile to manage the delivery of support services to both vendors, such as independent software vendors (ISVs), and their users in a cloud-based network or networks. Vendors may choose to host their technical support and related services in the service aggregation platform, and define a graduated set of levels of service to which their customers, subscribers, and/or other users may be registered or entitled Users of virtual machines hosted in the one or more cloud can receive technical support, help desk, updating, and/or other support directly from the service aggregation platform, or indirectly through the vendor. The aggregation platform can serve as a trusted portal for delivery of software certification, dependency testing, issue resolution, and/or other degrees or types of support.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose the concept of service component that packages together complex services and presents their interfaces and operations in a consistent and uniform manner in the form of an abstract class definition, Service components are internally synthesized out of reused, specialized or extended complex web services and just like normal web services are published and can thus be invoked by any service-based application.
Abstract: Web services are becoming the prominent paradigm for distributed computing and electronic business. This has raised the opportunity for service providers and application developers to develop value-added services by combining existing web services. However, current web service composition solutions do not address software engineering principles for raising the level of abstraction in web-services by providing facilities for packaging, re-using, specializing and customizing service compositions. In this paper we propose the concept of service component that packages together complex services and presents their interfaces and operations in a consistent and uniform manner in the form of an abstract class definition, Service components are internally synthesized out of reused, specialized, or extended complex web services and just like normal web services are published and can thus be invoked by any service-based application. In addition, we present an integrated framework and prototype system that manage the entire life-cycle of service components ranging from abstract service component definition, scheduling, and construction to execution.

TL;DR: This paper describes an application level service, known as an orchestrator, which performs synchronisation functions over multiple related transport connections, and outlines the design and implementation of a continuous media transport service which meets the identified requirements.
Abstract: The desire to transfer continuous media such as digital audio and video across packet switched networks imposes a number of new requirements on transport level communication services. This paper identifies a number of these requirements in the context of an experimental distributed multimedia infrastructure, and reports on research which addresses some of the associated issues. Particular attention is paid to two areas: (i) extended Quality of Service (QoS) provision; and (ii) support for the co-ordination of multiple related connections. We then describe an application level service, known as an orchestrator, which performs synchronisation functions over multiple related transport connections. We also outline the design and implementation of a continuous media transport service which meets the identified requirements. Finally, we outline the way in which the orchestrator and transport services are integrated into an object-based distributed multimedia application platform.

TL;DR: This paper model the service composition problem as a mixed integer linear problem where both local constraints and global constraints can be specified.
Abstract: In service oriented architectures, complex applications are composed from a variety of functionally equivalent Web services, which may differ for quality parameters. Under this scenario, applications are defined as high level business processes and service composition can be implemented dynamically by identifying the best set of services available at run time. In this paper, we model the service composition problem as a mixed integer linear problem where both local constraints and global constraints can be specified.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a service framework for information appliance systems that provides a standard, consistent, simplified way for services to make themselves available and for service-using entities to locate and connect with the services of interest to them.
Abstract: In an information appliance system 100, a user device 108 comprises a client platform (200, FIG. 5) that includes a service framework (235, FIG. 5) to discover and connect with a variety of services, both remote and local, transient and persistent, and to disconnect from them when they are no longer of interest or become unavailable. The service framework 235 provides a standard, consistent, simplified way for services to make themselves available and for service-using entities to locate and connect with the services of interest to them. From the perspective of the client platform 200, all services, whether local or remote, are presented as local services to the application. Each remote service is represented as a local service through the use of a local proxy that insulates the service user from the complexities of communicating with a remote server. Various methods of operating a service framework are also described.
