TL;DR: To support context-aware service discovery and selection, a better approach is required and this paper discusses one possible approach that is based on existing techniques.
Abstract: Context-aware applications are able to use context, which refers to information about the surrounding environment, to provide relevant information and/or services to the user. A context-aware application may need to make use of existing services (e.g., a print service). There may be several possible choices of services. The context-aware application should be able to discover and select a service that considers context (e.g., current user location). Existing architectures and protocols for service discovery, however, are not suitable for doing so. Contextual information, by its very nature, is dynamic, reflecting the current state and conditions of the application, its user, or its operating environment. Existing architectures and protocols for service discovery, however, tend to assume the world is static, with attributes describing services offered never changing. If attributes are allowed to change, the approaches do not provide the architectural mechanisms required to update them; dynamic attributes with no means of updating are static for all intents and purposes. To support context-aware service discovery and selection, a better approach is required. This paper discusses one possible approach that is based on existing techniques.

TL;DR: This paper has developed a context model to formally describe and acquire contextual information pertaining to the service requesters and services and constructed CA-SOA for ubiquitous Web service discovery and access based on service and requesters 'surrounding context.
Abstract: Context-aware Web service is an interactive model between the context of service requesters and the services in Web-enabled environments. We envision that providing context-aware services is the first step toward ubiquitous Web services to enhance current Web-based e-business by finding right business partners, right business information, and right business services in the right place at the right time. The major contributions of this paper are the development of our context model and Context Aware Service Oriented Architecture (CA-SOA). We have developed a context model to formally describe and acquire contextual information pertaining to the service requesters and services. Based on the model, we have constructed CA-SOA for ubiquitous Web service discovery and access based on service and requesters? surrounding context.

TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for managing domain policy for interconnected communication networks is presented, which governs communication service policy for interconnection among remote communication services to allow users to communicate with other users in remote domains.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for managing domain policy for interconnected communication networks. The present invention governs communication service policy for interconnection among remote communication services to allow users to communicate with other users in remote domains. Exemplary embodiments allow the local communication services to guarantee certain service aspects even when remote domains are involved. For example, the local service enablers can assert their local service policy across domains. A local service enabler can choose other service enablers in remote domains based on specific criteria that meets the local service enabler's settings and user preferences. The local service enabler can protect itself from connection to other service enablers that may contradict its local settings. Thus, the present invention can manage communication services across remote domains, while each domain can continue to be managed locally according to the needs and preferences of the local users.

TL;DR: In this article, a user-issued request for services is received and validated based on the service policy, and an initial set of service providers from a grid are identified. Once identified, the set can be dynamically varied based on monitored performances of the service providers, and/or based on discovery of other services providers from other grids.
Abstract: Under the present invention, a user-issued request for services is received and validated based on the service policy. Once validated, an initial set of service providers from a grid are identified. Once identified, the set can be dynamically varied based on monitored performances of the service providers, and/or based on the discovery of other service providers from other grids. Once the set is finalized, one or more particular service providers are selected to process the request. This system allows the grid to automatically respond to events monitored to optimize and provide reliable operations.

TL;DR: In this paper, an exemplary website allows a user to input projected usage requirements as user inputs including usage levels of mobile services and other desired services or features for the user and/or other persons intended for coverage under a chosen service plan.
Abstract: An exemplary website allows a user to input projected usage requirements as user inputs including usage levels of mobile services and other desired services or features for the user and/or other persons intended for coverage under a chosen service plan. The exemplary website selects and suggests to the user a service plan based upon the user inputs, resulting in the lowest monthly cost to the user, among different service plans available form a mobile carrier or wireless service provider. In addition, in the example, the user may share with another person information relating to the selected service plan via an electronic messaging service or proceed to purchase the selected service plan.
