TL;DR: In this paper, an improved mounting bracket for mounting diffusers on submerged air lateral pipes in a waste water treatment system is presented, which includes a pair of complemental saddle sections which can be clamped securely yet releasably on the air lateral with an outlet spout of the saddle in registration with a discharge port in the bottom of the air lumen.
Abstract: An improved mounting bracket for mounting diffusers on submerged air lateral pipes in a waste water treatment system. Each mounting bracket includes a pair of complemental saddle sections which can be clamped securely yet releasably on the air lateral with an outlet spout of the saddle in registration with a discharge port in the bottom of the air lateral. A Tee fitting has a pipe nipple connected with its inlet, and the pipe nipple can be threaded into the outlet spout. Virtually any type of diffuser can be solvent welded to each outlet of the Tee fitting. The mounting bracket surrounds and reinforces the air lateral at the diffuser connection point and takes advantage of relatively large diameter pipe at the threaded connection between the outlet spout and pipe nipple. All parts can be PVC or a similar plastic and can withstand the stresses which are applied because of the structural strength of the diffuser mounting arrangement.

Abstract: A non-welded pyrotechnic gas-generating inflator (10) apparatus which comprises: a domed diffuser member (12), open at one end; a closure plate member (15) sealing the open end of the diffuser member (12), the members being mechanically sealed by rolling a peripheral lip portion (14) of the diffuser member (12) over the outer circumference edge of the closure plate member at an angle of about 180 degrees to a remaining lateral wall portion of the diffuser member, and inserting a locking ring member (16) against a bottom surface of the closure member (15) within the periphery of the rolled lip, the locking ring being configured to engage an inner terminal edge portion of the lip, thereby forming a sealed inflator housing; a sufficient amount of a combustible gas generant material (26) within said housing (10) to produce, upon the combustion thereof, a volume of a gaseous product sufficient to substantially inflate an automobile air bag within about 30-60 milliseconds; a combustion initiating device (28) positioned within the housing (10) adjacent the gas generant (26) and a filter assembly (38) for filtering the combustion product prior to its discharge from the inflator (10), the filter assembly (38) circumferentially surrounding the gas generant (26) within the housing (10). In fabricating the inflator, the filter assembly (38) is simply lowered into position within the diffuser (12) and the propellant (26) is lowered into the filter cavity. Subsequently, the closure member (15) is mated to the open end of the diffuser and the lip of the diffuser is rolled over the outer edge of the closure by a rotating mechanical head in the area where they overlap to form a seal therebetween.

Abstract: A method for treating water with ozone in which a countercurrent flow of liquids is established within a treatment vessel to insure intimate contact and substantial contact time between ozone and water. The ozone and water are first pre-mixed by passing the ozone through a diffuser into a moving stream of water and the mixture is circulated in a tortuous path through a coil and discharged at the end of the diffuser coil through a number of orifices into the lower portion of the treatment vessel in a generally upwardly and outwardly direction with respect to the vertical axis of the treatment tank. Treated water suitable for bottling and storage is withdrawn from the bottom of the treatment vessel at an elevation below that of the discharge orifices to establish a countercurrent flow between the incoming and outgoing fluids.

TL;DR: In this article, a diffuser unit for non-condensing gases collecting within a heat pipe is described, where the heat pipe working fluid in vapor form transfers heat to the walls of the housing defining the collection cavity to raise the wall temperature thus increasing its permeability to the noncondensing gas.
Abstract: A diffuser unit for allowing non-condensing gases collecting within a heat pipe to be eliminated. The embodiments described herein define a cavity for collection of non-condensing gases such as hydrogen. The housings are arranged such that the heat pipe working fluid in vapor form transfers heat to the walls of the housing defining the collection cavity to raise the wall temperature thus increasing its permeability to the non-condensing gas. Accordingly, when the heat pipe is used in applications where non-condensing gases such as hydrogen tend to diffuse into the heat pipe such as when it is directly heated by a hydrocarbon combustion, such non-condensing gases can be readily eliminated. Such diffusion of non-condensing gases occurs without the requirement of providing a conventional "getter" which uses special material for absorbing or breaking down such non-condensing gases. The diffuser assemblies in accordance with this invention are self-regulating and entirely passive in operation, requiring no external heat inputs or control signals.

TL;DR: In this article, a tubular coarse bubble diffuser for aerating waste water is constructed of polyvinyl chloride or a similar plastic material and the diffuser body has a main section with flat side walls through which outlet ports are formed.
Abstract: A generally tubular coarse bubble diffuser for aerating waste water is constructed of polyvinyl chloride or a similar plastic material. The diffuser body has a main section with flat side walls through which outlet ports are formed. The opposite ends of the diffuser body are cylindrical and are connected with the main section by transition sections which avoid abrupt changes in the wall thickness or diffuser connector diameter. One end is solvent welded in a plastic Tee fitting and the other end receives a removable end cap. The flat walls provide efficient oxygen transfer and the cylindrical ends allow the use of a threaded end cap and a secure large diameter solvent weld connection to the Tee fitting which directs air to the diffuser.

Abstract: A fine-bubble diffuser for water aeration, having a solid, plate- type base element, a membrane (e.g. a rubber-elastic, perforated diffuser sheet) arranged above the base element and a connecting device for gas-tight connection of edge regions of the membrane to corresponding edge regions of the base element is already known. The known connecting device consists, for example, of edge strips joined by screws or rivets to the membrane and base element, but this represents a relatively expensive type of construction in terms of material, manufacture and assembly. … In the novel gas distributor (diffuser), however, the connecting device (4) consists of at least one snap-fit profile sealing element (e.g. 31) per edge region, the profile shape being such that a connection which is both firmly clamping and sealing results between the particular edge region 3 of the membrane 2 and the corresponding or associated edge region of the base element 1.
