TL;DR: In this article, a method of reducingspeckle includes dividing a laser illuminated area into phase cells, subdividing the phase cells into cell partitions, and applying a temporal phase variation to the cell partitions within an integration time of an intensity detector viewing the laser illumination area.
Abstract: An apparatus (142) of reducing speckle includes illumination optics (148), a diffuser (154), and projection optics (156). The illumination optics couple a laser illumination (172) to the diffuser (154), which is located in a first image plane (162). The diffuser (154) divides the laser illumination into the phase cells and subdivides the phase cells into the cell partitions. The diffuser (154) also applies the temporal phase variation (155, 157) to the cell partitions. The projection optics (156) project an image of the first image plane (194) onto a diffuse surface (158). A display apparatus adds a light modulator (150) to the apparatus for reducing speckle and places the light modulator in a third image plane located between a laser source (146) and the diffuser (154). The diffuser (154) includes first and second diffuser cells, each of which include first and second diffuser cell partitions. In use, the first diffuser cell partitions induce a first relative phase of zero while the second diffuser cell partitions induce a second relative phase of pi radians. The first and second diffuser cell partitions of the first diffuser cells are preferably arranged in a first Hadamard matrix pattern. The first and second diffuser cell partitions of the second diffuser cell are preferably arranged in a second Hadamard matrix pattern. A method of reducingspeckle includes dividing a laser illuminated area into phase cells, subdividing the phase cells into cell partitions, and applying a temporal phase variation to the cell partitions within an integration time of an intensity detector viewing the laser illuminated area.

TL;DR: In this paper, a hybrid diffuser is constructed within an insulation layer, at a predetermined distance from the head write section, in order to minimize the pole tip protrusion and the head temperature resulting from the thermal heating of the magnetic recording head during operation.
Abstract: An enchance recording head design provides conduction and mechanical restraint control in order to minimize the pole tip protrusion and the head temperature resulting from the thermal heating of the magnetic recording head during operation. In one embodiment, the recording head includes a hybrid diffuser formed within an insulation layer, at a predetermined distance from the head write section. The hybrid diffuser is comprised of a thermal conduction layer with high thermal conductivity, such as gold or copper, and a mechanical restraint layer having near zero CTE, such as a 60-80% face-centered-cubic NiFe (Invar) material. The hybrid diffuser is recessed from the ABS to prevent the delamination of the hybrid diffuser due to the otherwise displacement incompatibility between the inner insulating layer and the hybrid diffuser at the ABS.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of different degassing diffusers, a lance and a porous bar, on the areas of the foggy marks and the pore counts as revealed in the chilled Al-7Si and the A356 alloy sample sections was assessed.
Abstract: A degassing treatment is necessary to assure the quality of aluminum alloy castings. Its effect on the mechanical properties of the A356 alloys has been well studied and documented. This study assessed the effect of different degassing diffusers, a lance and a porous bar, on the areas of the foggy marks and the pore counts as revealed in the chilled Al-7Si and the A356 alloy sample sections. The degassing bubbles rose in the melt floating with induced convection loops during degassing. The porous diffuser generated a strong and wide convection loop in the melt. There are two bubble explosion sites when a porous diffuser was used: one in the area close to the wall of the crucible and another near the diffuser. Using a lance diffuser generated a coarse-bubble cloud near the diffuser during degassing. For Al-7Si alloy, different diffusers produced a close ratio of foggy marked area and a close pore count but the quality of A356 alloy melt was affected by diffusers and/or Sr addition. During rotating bending tests, the fatigue life of the specimens was affected by the pore count and the relative porosity, but was irrelevant to the foggy marks.

Abstract: A diffuser saddle connection is used for the attachment of diffusers on submerged air laterals in systems that treat municipal and industrial waste water. A top saddle surface and a bottom saddle surface enclose a portion of a feed pipe. A spout attached to the bottom saddle surface is solvent-welded to a tee, which is threadedly engaged to a diffuser. Flexible bushings on a nipple attached to the tee relieve stress on the connection between the diffuser and the diffuser saddle connection. An open end allows water to flow into the diffuser pipe to provide hydrostatic equilibrium and to reduce buoyancy.

TL;DR: In this article, a flat diffuser for changing the flow cross section in a flow conduit is proposed, for the inlet and outlet zone of UV disinfection devices for drinking water, water for industrial use or sewage water with a square or rectangular flow cross-section.
Abstract: The subject matter of the invention is a flat diffuser for changing the flow cross section in a flow conduit, preferably for the inlet and outlet zone of UV disinfection devices for drinking water, water for industrial use or sewage water with a square or rectangular flow cross section. High-performance UV disinfection devices inevitably lead to the arrangement of UV radiators in square or rectangular UV radiator grids transversally or longitudinally to the flow direction. In closed UV disinfection devices of high flow rates the inlets and outlets have round cross sections like the arriving piping. It is necessary to achieve there a transition from the arriving round inlet cross section to the completely differently shaped rectangular inlet cross section of the radiation chamber. A flat diffuser according to the inventive idea is helpful in the solution of this far from simple hydraulic problem and can lead to better hydraulic conditions in the radiation chamber and to a shorter overall length of the inlet and outlet zone and simplify its production.

Abstract: A diffuser for use in a pressurized feed system. The diffuser introduces a carbonic acid solution into water to be treated. The carbonic acid solution within the diffuser is maintained at an elevated pressure. As the carbonic acid solution passes to the exterior of the diffuser, the pressure drop causes an effective mixing of the carbonic acid solution and the water. The carbonic acid solution mixes with the water and the pH of the water is reduced.
