TL;DR: In this paper, a method and apparatus for pumping a well using a jet pump is described, which includes a housing provided with a central bore closed at a lower end and having a transverse bore opening into the lower end of the central bore for admission of power fluid.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for pumping a well using a jet pump. The method comprises pumping a power fluid downwardly in a first flow path in a well, directing the power fluid along a second flow path through a jet pump back to the surface, introducing produced fluids into the jet pump from below the pump, mixing the produced fluids with the power fluid in the pump, and pumping the fluid mixture to the surface through the second flow path along a substantially straight line from the zone of mixing in the pump. The apparatus includes a jet pump having a housing provided with a central bore closed at a lower end and having a transverse bore opening into the lower end of the central bore for admission of power fluid, a nozzle body and nozzle in the central bore above the transverse bore, a throat and diffuser in the bore above the nozzle, flow passages into the housing from the lower end of the housing around and separate from the transverse bore and an annular entry passage from the bypass flow passages into the housing bore between the nozzle and the throat for admission of produce fluids into the housing bore downstream from the nozzle in response to a low pressure in the throat produced by the nozzle. The nozzle body, nozzle, throat, and diffuser of the jet pump are arranged in tandem along a straight line axis.

TL;DR: In this paper, a new vaneless diffuser model is presented, and the impact upon future design is outlined, and it is established that various future designs will require the integrity of the new model; old models can be used in limited cases with care.
Abstract: A new vaneless diffuser model is presented. Upon thorough examination of the change in average total pressure, the average static pressure and the average flow angle through a vaneless diffuser, it was discovered that existing models fail to provide useful integrity. Consequently, a new model was built. It was learned that it was necessary to use a two-zone model of the flow entering the vaneless diffuser and to carefully model the two-zone degradation as the flow passes through the vaneless diffuser. The new model is presented with detailed testing. The impact upon future design is outlined, and the expectation is established that various future designs will require the integrity of the new model; old models can be used in limited cases with care.

TL;DR: In this article, an atomizer assembly includes an ultrasonic resonator which is clamped along a clamping line near one end and driven along a driving line spaced from the clamp line.
Abstract: An atomizer assembly includes an ultrasonic resonator which is clamped along a clamping line near one end and driven along a driving line spaced from the clamping line. The atomizer is positioned centrally in a throat for receiving a gas flow at an inlet end and for emitting the gas flow at an outlet end. A gas diffuser is provided for directing the gas flow from the inlet end to contact the surface of the ultrasonic resonator at a high angle of incidence. A liquid flow path is provided through the clamp for directing a liquid to impinge on the vibratory surface of the ultrasonic resonator. The internal surface tension in the liquid is overcome by the vibratory motion and the liquid is cast from the surface of the resonator in atomized form at a low velocity. The atomized liquid is mixed thoroughly with the gas due to the opposing directions of the atomized liquid and the gas flow. The mixed or entrained atomized liquid is passed through the outlet end of the throat.

TL;DR: In this paper, a compound ejector system consisting of a primary nozzle, primary mixing chamber, secondary nozzle, secondary mixing chamber and diffuser, with the primary nozzle acting mainly as super charger and the secondary nozzle functioning mainly as a mixer, each nozzle being supplied with a part of the motive fluid.
Abstract: A compound ejector apparatus comprising a primary nozzle, primary mixing chamber, secondary nozzle, secondary mixing chamber and diffuser, the primary nozzle functioning mainly as a super charger and the secondary nozzle functioning mainly as a mixer and which furnishes a major portion of the kinetic energy for the compression work taking place in the diffuser, each nozzle being supplied with a part of the motive fluid, wherein the motive fluid supplied to the secondary nozzle has a higher pressure than that supplied to the primary nozzle and wherein the amount of motive fluid supplied to the primary nozzle is only a small part of the total motive fluid supplied to the apparatus.
