TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method to improve the quality of the data collected by the data collection system. But, they did not specify a method for the verification of the collected data.

The review of literature from interdisciplinary leads to the expansion of characteristics of innovations of which cause diffusion. Specifically, the paper suggests that the relative advantage and divisibility of an innovation should be viewed in terms of advantage superiority and uncertainty marginalization which are more customer-centric. Further, target customers’ affordability and firms’ resource compatibility are initiated as the additional key aspects that lead to the diffusion of innovations. Besides the characteristics of an innovation itself, the article proposes three internal characteristics of a firm that facilitates the diffusion—operation efficiency, firm structure and culture, and the ability to combine and exchange resources. The article concludes by offering a conceptual model based on the findings. Keywords : Innovation Diffusion, Innovation, Market Viewpoint, Resource-Based View of a Firm

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the innovation process in education and the implementation of theoretical adaptive learning framework in Russian universities is presented, and the authors investigate and evaluate the Public Relations students' perceived importance of factors affecting their learning: subject choice, subject knowledge acquisition, a type of subject content (text, audio, video), an individual pace in studying the subject, a lecturer's guidance and group size.
Abstract: Covid-19 has catalyzed positive disruptive change in the contemporary education system. It has accelerated the necessity of an innovation implementation process, technology-enhanced learning environment, customized and student-centered learning. It has enabled educators to tailor course content and pathways to students’ strengths, skills, interests and learning profiles. Adaptive learning is a contemporary method orchestrating human and digital resources to meet the needs of individual learners. The paper gives a review of the innovation process in education and the implementation of theoretical adaptive learning framework in Russian universities. It identifies innovators and early adopters who can assist two Russian Universities in attempts to implement new educational approaches. The authors also consider if there are any correlations between professors’ self-categorization and their practical application of adaptive learning in terms of the pace of learning, type of content presentation, knowledge state and students’ interests. Moreover, the researchers investigate and evaluate the Public Relations students’ perceived importance of factors affecting their learning: subject choice, subject knowledge acquisition, a type of subject content (text, audio, video), an individual pace in studying the subject, a lecturer’s guidance and group size.

Abstract: This case study demonstrates how change agents can utilize networked learning communities (NLCs) with shared leadership to provide the structural supports for learning and influence the implementation of innovations within a social system. Our focus is the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), a large school system operating 164 accredited schools domestically and internationally. As part of their systemic priority of implementing innovations for educational improvement, DoDEA worked with extension specialists to create NLCs for instructional leaders using the Engelbart’s Organizational Learning and Improvement Schema. The schema is a three-tiered approach to non-formal learning that facilitates leader capacity building at the individual, team, and systemwide levels. To support these learning communities, DoDEA also created regional support teams or opinion leaders to assist with the implementation of systemwide educational technologies through non-formal professional learning. Focus group discussions provided insights on the impact of this model as a mechanism for diffusing educational innovations throughout the system. Findings suggest that implementation of this approach in other international training and development settings can yield positive impacts on the innovation-decision process.

TL;DR: It was determined that three factors influenced a faculty member's decision to adopt and implement the innovation: technology, pedagogy, and presentation style, and innovation characteristics: compatibility, trialability, relative advantage and observabilty are most important to consider for the adoption of web media objects for university course instruction.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the influence that a set of professional development initiatives had on faculty use of Moodle, a well-known Course Management System, and found that the PD initiatives adhered closely to criteria posited in technology-related professional development best practice criteria.
Abstract: This study was undertaken to examine the influence that a set of Professional Development (PD) initiatives had on faculty use of Moodle, a well known Course Management System. The context of the study was a private language university just outside Tokyo, Japan. Specifically, it aimed to identify the way in which the PD initiatives adhered to professional development best practice criteria; how faculty members perceived the PD initiatives; what impact the PD initiatives had on faculty use of Moodle; and other variables that may have influenced faculty in their use of Moodle. The study utilised a mixed methods approach. Participants in the study were 42 teachers who worked at the university in the academic year 2008/9. The online survey consisted of 115 items, factored into 10 constructs. Data was collected through an online survey, semi-structured face-to-face interviews, post-workshop surveys, and a collection of textual artefacts. The quantitative data were analysed in SPSS, using descriptive statistics, Spearman's Rank Order correlation tests and a Kruskal-Wallis means test. The qualitative data was used to develop and expand findings and ideas. The results indicated that the PD initiatives adhered closely to criteria posited in technology-related professional development best practice criteria. Further, results from the online survey, post workshop surveys, and follow up face-to-face interviews indicated that while the PD initiatives that were implemented were positively perceived by faculty, they did not have the anticipated impact on Moodle use among faculty. Further results indicated that other variables, such as perceptions of Moodle, and institutional issues, had a considerable influence on Moodle use. The findings of the study further strengthened the idea that the five variables Everett Rogers lists in his Diffusion of Innovations model, including perceived attributes of an innovation; type of innovation decision; communication channels; nature of the social system; extent of change agents' promotion efforts, most influence the adoption of an innovation. However, the results also indicated that some of the variables in Rogers' DOI seem to have more of an influence than others, particularly the perceived attributes of an innovation variable. In addition, the findings of the study could serve to inform universities that have Course Management Systems (CMS), such as Moodle, about how to utilise them most efficiently and effectively. The findings could also help to inform universities about how to help faculty members acquire the skills necessary to incorporate CMSs into curricula and teaching practice. A limitation of this study was the use of a non-randomised sample, which could appear to have limited the generalisations of the findings to this particular Japanese context.
