TL;DR: In this article, a simplified digital camera without signal compensating and processing circuits is employed by a user to capture an image and to transmit the raw image information sets along with a camera identification code through an interactive television network to an interactive control node for processing with color correction and pixel defect correction using the cameras correction and defect maps and other image enhancement, and to convert the processed image data to the specified display image format.
Abstract: A digital still camera and interactive system and method for video display or reproduction of captured images employing an image processing system on an interactive network for receiving and converting a captured raw, digitized image information set into a display image format for display as a video image, storage, and/or reproduction as a print. A simplified digital camera without signal compensating and processing circuits is employed by a user to capture an image and to transmit the raw image information sets along with a camera identification code through an interactive television network to an interactive control node for processing with color correction and pixel defect correction using the cameras correction and defect maps and other image enhancement, and to convert the processed image data to the specified display image format. The processed video display signal is transmitted back to the user's or other designated receiver's interactive television home interface controller. The camera specific, correction maps and the color and defect correction algorithms may be provided by the camera manufacturer to the network on registration of the camera and accessed or downloaded by the user or the user's designee. Processing of the raw image information sets may be at a control node within the network or in the user's home interface controller.

TL;DR: In this article, a method of reconstructing an image captured as a stream of image data, for example as input received from a linear sensor in unconstrained scanning, comprises reconstructing the image in the form of a plurality of tiles.
Abstract: A method of reconstructing an image captured as a stream of image data, for example as input received from a linear sensor in unconstrained scanning, comprises reconstructing the image in the form of a plurality of tiles. Each tile comprises a pixel grid of predetermined dimension representing a specific spatial region of the image. The tiles tessellate a rectilinear image space. Tiles can be created when required and compressed when no longer active, thus minimizing memory requirements. Devices utilizing this method are provided. The method is especially appropriate for use in an unconstrained hand scanner, but can also be applied to panoramic capture with a digital camera.

TL;DR: Transmission functions are derived that are valid in the nonparaxial case for a class of lenses that will image a continuum of points along an optical axis to a single image point in a digital camera.
Abstract: Transmission functions are derived that are valid in the nonparaxial case for a class of lenses that will image a continuum of points along an optical axis to a single image point This lens, which we call a logarithmic asphere, is then used in a digital camera The resolution of the camera is limited by the pixel size of the CCD; ie, it is not diffraction limited Digital processing is used to recover the image, and image-plane processing is used for speed We find a tenfold increase in the depth of field over that for the diffraction-limited case

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that when a printer (20) or a digital camera (10) can communicate with each other, a print menu is displayed on a liquid crystal display (LCD) section (13).
Abstract: When an 'ON' key (22) of a printer (20) is operated in the state wherein a digital camera (10) and the printer (20) can communicate with each other, menu data and a menu display command signal are transferred to the digital camera (10), and a print menu is displayed on a liquid crystal display section (13). When a 'SET' key (24) is operated, an image readout command signal is transferred to the digital camera (10), and stored image data representing a recorded image is displayed on the liquid crystal display section (13). When a '+' key (23a) or a '-' key (23b) is depressed under the condition wherein the image is being displayed on the liquid crystal display section (13), an image switching command signal is transferred to the digital camera (10), and the image which is being displayed is switched to another recorded image. When a 'PRINT' key (27) is operated under the condition wherein the desired image is being displayed on the liquid crystal display section (13), a print command signal is sent from the printer (20) to the digital camera (10), and image data corresponding to the image which is being displayed on the liquid crystal display section (13) is transferred to the digital camera (10) or the printer (20). The printer (20) prints the image corresponding to the transferred image data, in accordance with a print mode determined.

TL;DR: In this paper, an authentication pattern is represented by an authentication key or indicium, a single number or an ordered sequence of numbers, that is transmitted with the modified digital image and incorporated position information.
Abstract: Apparatus for producing a self-authenticating visual image of a selected view, using a digital image forming means, such as a digital camera, together with a position determining system that provides position information, including location and/or angular orientation and/or time of observation at the time a digital image is formed and/or distance from the camera to a selected object. The digital image of the selected view is presented as an array of pixels with associated pixel values. The position information is incorporated in the digital image by altering selected pixel bit values for a selected authentication pattern P of pixels in a chosen subset CS of the pixel array; and this selected pattern may be determined using the position information. The position information may be encrypted, using an encryption key based on position information, and may be stored separate from, or as part of, the digital image. The authentication pattern is represented by an authentication key or indicium, a single number or an ordered sequence of numbers, that is transmitted with the modified digital image and incorporated position information. The authentication pattern P is preferably chosen so that any circle or other connected pixel region of diameter at least equal to a selected number D contains at least one pixel from the subset CS. The pixel array may be overlaid by a set of polygons, such as triangles, rectangles, parallelograms or hexagons, with at least one pixel from the subset CS in each polygon.
