28 Aug 2003TL;DR: In this paper, the camera housing is primarily formed of a transparent plastic block that encloses a semiconductor sensor only on its underside and has an adapted lens on its top side.
Abstract: A digital camera has a lens, a camera housing, and a semiconductor sensor. The camera housing is primarily formed of a transparent plastic block that encloses a semiconductor sensor only on its underside and has an adapted lens on its top side. Between the two there is provided an opaque layer with an aperture that improves the image quality. The invention also relates to a method for producing such a digital camera.

30 Sep 2002TL;DR: In this paper, a digital image storage system includes an adapter on which the digital camera is to be laid down for the purpose of taking out digital images in a memory of the camera and a digital storage located apart from the adapter for communicating therewith.
Abstract: A digital image storage system includes an adapter on which the digital camera is to be laid down for the purpose of taking out digital images in a memory of the digital camera and a digital image storage located apart from the adapter for communicating therewith. The digital image storage includes a detector that detects a signal from the adapter, a function unit that causes the taking out of the digital images in response to the signal, and a storage medium that stores the taken out digital images.

02 Jun 2003TL;DR: In this article, a printer and a digital camera can be directly connected to each other via a USB interface, and the user can input a print instruction of a desired image on the DSC, a print process of that image is executed.
Abstract: A sensed image is saved in a printer in an environment in which a digital camera can directly communicate with a printer, and the sensed image can be directly printed. A printer and a digital camera (DSC) can be directly connected to each other via a USB interface. Upon this direct connection, the digital camera and printer serve as a print system, and the DSC serves as a user interface in that system. When the user inputs a print instruction of a desired image on the DSC, a print process of that image is executed. When the user inputs a save instruction of a given image, that image is saved in a storage device in the printer. Even when the image is erased on the DSC side, original image data can be prevented from being lost.

16 Mar 2006TL;DR: In this article, a system is provided for storing positional data received from GPS signals in response to an event, and then processing that positional data at a later time to obtain detailed location information of the system at the time of the event.
Abstract: A system is provided for storing positional data received from GPS signals in response to an event, and then processing that positional data at a later time to obtain detailed location information of the system at the time of the event The received GPS signals may be decimated to a desired sampling rate and then stored for later correlation In one embodiment, the system is a digital camera having an antenna, an RF front end, and a non-volatile memory device The event which triggers the storage of the positional data is a photo capture by the digital camera The positional data, in decimated but uncorrelated form, is stored with the image data in the non-volatile memory device The positional data can then be transferred with the image data to a separate device, such as a personal computer, for post-processing

17 Aug 2005TL;DR: In this paper, a communication system in which data stored in a memory card mounted in a host apparatus, such as a digital camera, can be sent to an external apparatus with ease without relying on operations carried out on the host apparatus.
Abstract: A communication system in which data stored in a memory card mounted in a host apparatus, such as a digital camera, can be sent to an external apparatus with ease without relying on operations carried out on the host apparatus. The memory card includes a communication control section controllable by the external apparatus so that data can be read out from a memory of the memory card and sent to the external apparatus in accordance with control executed by the external apparatus. Even if the host apparatus is a mobile apparatus such as a digital camera, picture data stored by the digital camera in the memory card can be sent to the external apparatus by wireless communication without the need to change the digital camera serving as the mobile apparatus specially by, for example, installing driver software. That is to say, the memory card can be applied to contemporary digital cameras.
