TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for automatically generating a plurality of folders for multiple devices in a digital camera is presented, which can be used to retrieve images from multiple cameras.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for automatically generating a plurality of folders for multiple devices in a digital camera. The method and system comprises providing a folder of images from a digital camera and embedding an image file format in the folder, wherein the image file format identifies the particular camera. In a preferred embodiment, the image file format comprises a TIFF structure. Through this mechanism, a one level folder system can be utilized to retrieve images. In addition, since the image file format identifies the camera, conflicts due to identical serial numbers are eliminated.

08 Jul 2009TL;DR: In this paper, a digital imaging device such as a digital camera or a video camera may include the capability to store audio files and these audio files may be generated under user control when the user wishes to take a picture or capture video.
Abstract: A digital imaging device such as a digital camera or a video camera may include the capability to store audio files. These audio files may be generated under user control when the user wishes to take a picture or capture video. The audio files may be played back as attention grabbers to attract the attention of the imaging subjects. After attracting the attention of the subjects by playing back a recorded audio sound, an image may be automatically captured.

TL;DR: In this paper, a modular digital camera system can include a brain module configured to be releasably coupled to one or more of a port extender module, power module, display module, and handle module.
Abstract: Modular digital camera systems are disclosed. The modular digital camera system can include a brain module configured to be releasably coupled to one or more of a port extender module, power module, display module, and handle module. The brain module and other accessory modules can be structured according to some embodiments to increase an ease of coupling and decoupling the modules.

TL;DR: The first silicon-integrated 2D light-sensitive array equipped with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor addressing and readout electronics and operating in the near infrared was reported in this article.
Abstract: We report on the first silicon-integrated 2-D light-sensitive array equipped with complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor addressing and readout electronics and operating in the near infrared The chip includes 64 times 8 pixels, 64 analog-to-digital converters, cancellation circuitry for dark current, and facilities for test/calibration We describe its architecture and fabrication, its electronic and optoelectronic characterization, as well as its operation as a near-infrared camera

31 Dec 2009TL;DR: In this article, a mobile phone incorporating a digital camera that incorporates a graphics processing unit (GPU) to process image data in order to increase the quality of a rendered image is described.
Abstract: Described is a device (e.g., a cell phone incorporating a digital camera) that incorporates a graphics processing unit (GPU) to process image data in order to increase the quality of a rendered image. The processing power provided by a GPU means that, for example, an unacceptable pixel value (e.g., a pixel value associated with a malfunctioning or dead detector element) can be identified and replaced with a new value that is determined by averaging other pixel values. Also, for example, the device can be calibrated against benchmark data to generate correction factors for each detector element. The correction factors can be applied to the image data on a per-pixel basis. If the device is also adapted to record and/or play digital audio files, the audio performance of the device can be calibrated to determine correction factors for a range of audio frequencies.
