TL;DR: The Digital Photo Album as mentioned in this paper stores digital JPEG images and animations downloaded from a digital camera, computer or Internet on internal storage, allowing viewing, organizing and presenting of the stored pictures.
Abstract: The Digital Photo Album stores digital JPEG images and animations downloaded from a digital camera, computer or Internet on internal storage. It allows viewing, organizing and presenting of the stored pictures. It comprises of a color LCD display, USB port, Compact Flash Card™ port and simple control buttons to browse pictures. A central mini-computer performs processing on user input, USB communications, Flash card IO and display control.

01 Feb 2005TL;DR: In this paper, a method for producing a distance map of scene distance values for a digital image captured by a digital camera is proposed, where a first digital image of a scene is captured under a first illumination condition, and a second digital image is captured in a second illumination condition that is different from the first illumination conditions.
Abstract: A method for producing a distance map of scene distance values for a digital image captured by a digital camera includes capturing a first digital image of a scene under a first illumination condition, wherein the first digital image includes a plurality of pixels and the scene includes a plurality of scene objects located at different distances from the digital camera, capturing a second digital image of the scene under a second illumination condition that is different from the first illumination condition, and using the first and second digital images to produce a distance map having a plurality of scene distance values, wherein each scene distance value relates to the distance between the digital camera and the corresponding scene object.

TL;DR: A high resolution multispectral image acquisition system for digitizing art paintings for the European CRISATEL Project and of special light projectors.
Abstract: We have designed and built a high resolution multispectral image acquisition system for digitizing art paintings for the European CRISATEL Project http://www.crisatel.jussieu.fr,. This system consists of a multispectral digital camera and of special light projectors. The digital camera is a linear CCD array scanner and the lighting system provides a strip of light which scans the painting in synchronisation with the linear CCD array.

TL;DR: The exposed method, substantially based on the "retinex" approach, adopts an innovative system for the extraction of the illumination component, which is essentially the bottleneck for real-time applicationsbased on the retinex method.
Abstract: Digital cameras, new generation phones and in general modern image acquisition devices, requires algorithms for image enhancement suitable to work in real time and possibly with a limited power consumption. Unfortunately most of the systems present in the literature either require a very high computational effort or do not provide good performances. In this paper a new method for the improvement of the visual quality of a digital image is introduced. The exposed method, substantially based on the "retinex" approach, adopts an innovative system for the extraction of the illumination component, which is essentially the bottleneck for real-time applications based on the retinex method. In the retinex theory, the illumination of an image is approximated by a narrow-band low-pass filtering of the original image which should maintain the abrupt transitions unchanged. In order to obtain this behavior a new typology of filters is introduced, i.e. the recursive rational filter (RRF), The adoption of such filters concurs to obtain the proper behavior using a very simple structure, suitable for an implementation in real-time devices
