TL;DR: In this article, a UAV having an onboard digital camera is used to identify a geographic area not captured by the onboard camera while the UAV is flying in a current flying pattern, and modifying the current flying patterns to capture an image of the identified geographic area.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products for navigating a UAV having an on-board digital camera are provided. Embodiments include identifying a geographic area not captured by the digital camera while the UAV is flying in a current flying pattern, and modifying the current flying pattern to capture an image of the identified geographic area. Identifying a geographic area not captured by the digital camera while the UAV is flying in a current flying pattern may be carried out by determining an area captured by the onboard camera, extrapolating the area captured by the onboard camera along the flying pattern to determine a perimeter of uncaptured geographic area, and determining the area of the uncaptured geographic area in dependence upon the perimeter.

TL;DR: In this article, an apparatus for glare removal in digital imaging of a cervix is described, which includes a digital camera operable to create first and second digital images having substantially the same field of view; lights associated with the camera for illuminating the cervix with light pulses emitted from two locations.
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for glare removal in digital imaging of a cervix. The apparatus includes a digital camera operable to create first and second digital images having substantially the same field of view; lights associated with the camera for illuminating the cervix with light pulses emitted from two locations, and a digital processor. The light pulses are synchronized so the cervix is illuminated with a first pulse for the creation of the first image and the cervix is illuminated with a second pulse for the creation of the second image. First glare and first non-glare regions are created by the first pulse in the first image, and second glare and second non-glare regions are created by the second pulse in the second image. The processor creates a glare-free digital composite image by replacing the digital elements of the glare region of the first image with the corresponding digital elements from the non-glare region of the second image.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for decoding barcodes from images acquired using a mobile device is presented, where the barcode image is acquired via a digital camera attached to the mobile device and the image is sent to a server via a wireless network.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for decoding barcodes from images acquired using a mobile device. Generally, the barcode image is acquired via a digital camera attached to the mobile device. After the barcode image has been acquired, the image is sent to a server via a wireless network which enhances the barcode image and subsequently decodes the barcode information. The server processes the barcode information and transmits media content related to the barcode back to the mobile device.

TL;DR: In this paper, an electromechanical shutter mechanism is used to adjust the amount of light that each pixel receives when the adjustable aperture is opened and closed, according to commands from the processor of the digital camera.
Abstract: A digital camera that includes, among other things, a processor having a memory and a substrate having at least one pixel disposed thereon for absorbing light from an object. The pixel is electrically coupled to the processor for storing a digital image of the object in the memory of the processor. Also included in the digital camera is an electromechanical shutter mechanism that is moveably associated with the pixel. The electromechanical shutter system has a first position and a second position. The positions are selected according to commands from the processor of the digital camera. The first position exposes the pixel to the light from the object and the second position prevents exposure of the at least one pixel to the light. Various aspects of the present invention may also be found in an image capturing device that includes an adjustable aperture that allows light to pass through when opened and that prevents light from passing through when closed. A substrate is included in the image capturing device that has a plurality of pixels disposed thereon for capturing the light that passes through the adjustable aperture. Also included is a shutter mechanism that is used to control the amount of the light that the plurality of pixels receive when the adjustable aperture is opened. The shutter mechanism simultaneously adjusts the amount of light that each of the plurality of pixels receives. A processing device is included to store the data that is captured in each of the plurality of pixels such that the image capturing device is able to generate an image that is created by the light that passes through the adjustable aperture.

TL;DR: In this article, the same raw data is thinned to create a thumbnail and a small-size image for reproduction, correlated with the raw data transmitted, and stored in the digital camera.
Abstract: A digital camera system includes a digital camera 1 for radio transmitting raw data from an image pickup unit 11 and information on the image pickup unit 11 and a server center 2 for receiving the raw data and the information via the Internet, performing interpolation, white balance adjustment, contour emphasis, thinning, and compression, and storing the resultant data. In the digital camera 1, the same raw data is thinned to create a thumbnail and a small-size image for reproduction, correlated with the raw data transmitted, and stored. The digital camera 1 is provided as a part of a digital camera-equipped cellular telephone 1 and image transmission, thinned data storage and display are performed by using the function of the cellular telephone.
