TL;DR: This paper examines the usability aspect of forensics tools through interviews and surveys designed to obtain feedback from professionals using these tools as part of their regularly assigned duties.
Abstract: Digital forensics has become a critical part of almost every investigation, and users of digital forensics tools are becoming more diverse in their backgrounds and interests. As a result, usability is an important aspect of these tools. This paper examines the usability aspect of forensics tools through interviews and surveys designed to obtain feedback from professionals using these tools as part of their regularly assigned duties. The study results highlight a number of usability issues that need to be taken into consideration when designing and implementing digital forensics tools.

TL;DR: A new blur edge detection scheme is proposed in this paper, which can indicate possible tampering and locate tampered regions without any embedded information such as watermarking technique.
Abstract: Recent studies on agent techniques for digital content management have been focused on the guarantee of safety and intelligent management. The digital forensic to detect content tampering is a typical application of safety digital content management. Based on the edge processing and analysis using edge preserving smoothing filtering and mathematical morphology, a new blur edge detection scheme is proposed in this paper, which can indicate possible tampering and locate tampered regions without any embedded information such as watermarking technique. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

TL;DR: This paper discusses and compares the two methodologies of steganography and visual cryptography, in addition to discussing some of the best known algorithms for each.
Abstract: — Recently, numerous novel algorithms have been proposed in the fields of steganography and visual cryptography with the goals of improving security, reliability, and efficiency. This paper discusses and compares the two methodologies. Some similarities and differences are presented, in addition to discussing some of the best known algorithms for each. Lastly, an idea for a possible algorithm which combines the use of both steganography and visual cryptography is suggested. There are several ways of hiding data in files of different formats, leaving various signs of hidden data. Can data hidden in an original image be detected after it undergoes visual cryptography? Would that be a scenario which computer forensic investigators and forensic software developers have to account for?
