TL;DR: In this article, a mobile receiver for digital audio broadcasting is presented, where the transmission process is substantially entirely digital and a whole frequency range is used for the terrestrial transmission, and a receiver for a digital radio signal is included, particularly wherein the filter coefficient is changeable by a control circuit which generates a first value for the filter coefficients to get the real signal component and thereafter generates a second value for an imaginary signal component.
Abstract: The apparatus includes a mobile receiver for digital audio broadcasting. The transmission process is substantially entirely digital and a whole frequency range is used for the terrestrial transmission. The apparatus includes a receiver for a digital radio signal, particularly wherein the filter coefficient is changeable by a control circuit which generates a first value for the filter coefficient to get the real signal component and thereafter generates a second value for the imaginary signal component, whereby with the switching over of the first and second values for the filter coefficient a simultaneous downsampling of the digital signal is performed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose an intelligent electronic device (IED) consisting of a base module having a power monitoring circuit operative to monitor a parameter of a portion of a power distribution system and generate an analog signal representative thereof.
Abstract: An intelligent electronic device (IED) includes a base module having a power monitoring circuit operative to monitor a parameter of a portion of a power distribution system and generate an analog signal representative thereof. The base module also includes a processor coupled with the power monitoring circuit, the processor having an analog to digital converter operative to convert the analog signal to a digital signal representative thereof. The processor operates to implement a first power management functionality and generate first power management data. At least one of a display and a communications interface couple with the processor and communicate the first power management data external to the IED. A first interface couples with the processor and the communications interface. The first interface operates to receive a first external function module. The first external function module includes a second power management functionality, where the first interface further facilitates implementation of the second power management functionality.

TL;DR: A new architecture is presented for a single-chip tuner for digital terrestrial television, based on existing double conversion and direct conversion topologies, using a custom-designed analog ASIC which integrates all analog tuner blocks (including channel filtering) on one chip.
Abstract: A new architecture is presented for a single-chip tuner for digital terrestrial television, based on existing double conversion and direct conversion topologies. The new design forms part of a mixed-signal Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial (DVB-T) receiver system, employing digital signal processing at baseband to ensure minimal performance requirements for the analog circuitry. To evaluate the potential performance of this new tuner/receiver system, high-level system simulations have been performed, followed by the construction of a prototype DVB-T receiver using a custom-designed analog ASIC which integrates all analog tuner blocks (including channel filtering) on one chip. Measured results from this chip, implemented in a 20-GHz bipolar technology, show an overall third-order input referred intercept point of 116 dB/spl mu/V, a noise figure of 14 dB and an automatic gain control range of 71.4 dB, drawing 250 mA at a 5-V supply.

TL;DR: In this article, a body implantable medical apparatus includes circuitry for generating and transmitting a modulated analog data signal, such as a signal containing physiologic sensor data, which can be implemented in a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), in an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC), or using a digital signal processor.
Abstract: A body implantable medical apparatus includes circuitry for generating and transmitting a modulated analog data signal. A receiver receives and digitally demodulates the modulated analog signal. An analog-to-digital converting circuit produces an amplitude limited modulated digital signal corresponding to the modulated analog signal. The converting circuit includes an amplifier coupled to a receive antenna and a comparator having an input coupled to the amplifier and an output coupled to a digital demodulator. The digital demodulator demodulates the modulated digital signal to produce a digital information signal, such as a signal containing physiologic sensor data. The digital demodulator includes a digital delay line comprising a plurality of shift registers or, alternatively, a plurality of multiple-stage delay blocks each coupled to a tap selection device. The digital delay line includes an input coupled to an output of the converting circuit, an exclusive OR (XOR) gate having a first input coupled to an output of the digital delay line, and a conductor coupled between the input of the digital delay line and a second input of the XOR gate, such that delayed and non-delayed modulated digital signals are respectively applied to the first and second XOR gate inputs to produce a digital information signal at an output of the XOR gate. The digital demodulator may be implemented in a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), in an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) or using a digital signal processor. A control circuit is coupled to the digital demodulator to adjust a rate at which the digital demodulator operates.
