TL;DR: In this article, a recursive algorithm for real-time digital pulse shaping in pulse height measurements has been developed, where the differentiated signal from the preamplifier (exponential pulse) is amplified and then digitized.
Abstract: Recursive algorithms for real-time digital pulse shaping in pulse height measurements have been developed. The differentiated signal from the preamplifier (exponential pulse) is amplified and then digitized. Digital data are deconvolved so that the response of the high-pass network is eliminated. The deconvolved pulse is processed by a time-invariant digital filter which allows trapezoidal/triangular or cusp-like shapes to be synthesized. A prototype of a digital trapezoidal processor was built which is capable of sampling and processing digital data in real time at clock rates up to 50 MHz.

26 Nov 1993TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose an interface to include a mechanical extender that physically interconnects the camera to the card slot (16) on the computer, the camera and computer are linked in a high speed interface as a convenient, hand-held unit.
Abstract: An electronic camera (20) operates with a small, portable computer (10) having a card interface (12, 22) of the type used for communicating with a removable memory card. The camera includes an image sensor for converting an image into an electrical signal, an A/D converter for converting the electrical signal into a digital signal, and a signal processor for interfacing the digital signal to the card interface (22), ordinarily a slot (16) receptacle, on the computer. By defining the interface to include a mechanical extender (24) that physically interconnects the camera to the card slot (16) on the computer, the camera and computer are linked in a high speed interface as a convenient, hand-held unit.

01 Feb 1967TL;DR: In this paper, the z-transform calculus is used to design a digital filter whose impulse response is similar to that of a given analog filter, and the effect of digital arithmetic on the behavior of digital filters is also considered.
Abstract: Digital filtering is the process of spectrum shaping using digital components as the basic elements Increasing speed and decreasing size and cost of digital components make it likely that digital filtering, already used extensively in the computer simulation of analog filters, will perform, in real-time devices, the functions which are now performed almost exclusively by analog components In this paper, using the z-transform calculus, several digital filter design techniques are reviewed, and new ones are presented One technique can be used to design a digital filter whose impulse response is like that of a given analog filter; other techniques are suitable for the design of a digital filter meeting frequency response criteria Another technique yields digital filters with linear phase, specified frequency response, and controlled impulse response duration The effect of digital arithmetic on the behavior of digital filters is also considered

TL;DR: In this paper, a sensor system for initiating deployment of an occupant protection apparatus in a motor vehicle, such as an airbag, to protect an occupant of the vehicle in a crash is described.
Abstract: A sensor system for initiating deployment of an occupant protection apparatus in a motor vehicle, such as an airbag, to protect an occupant of the vehicle in a crash. The system includes a sensor mounted to the vehicle for sensing accelerations of the vehicle and producing an analog signal representative thereof; an electronic converter for receiving the analog signal from the sensor and for converting the analog signal into a digital signal, and a processor which receives the digital signal. The processor includes a pattern recognition system and produces a deployment signal when the pattern recognition system determines that the digital signal contains a pattern characteristic of a vehicle crash requiring occupant protection. A deployment initiation mechanism is coupled to the processor and, responsive to the deployment signal, initiates deployment of the occupant protection apparatus.
