TL;DR: In this article, a signal distribution system with selection facility, including a matrix (8) and a multiplexer (12) connected to the matrix for forming a multiple-x signal, is presented.
Abstract: A head-end for a signal distribution system with selection facility, includes a matrix (8) and a multiplexer (12) connected thereto for forming a multiplex signal. The head-end further comprises A/D converters (4-1 to Δ-N) for converting the wide-band input signals into digital signals prior to supply to the matrix. The multiplexer comprises two amplitude modulators (13, 14) for the mutual quadrature amplitude modulation of a carrier (17) by two digital signals, and a summing means (18) for adding a digital signal in the base band to the modulated signal. A signal receiver for one of the modulated signals comprises a synchronous amplitude demodulator (21) connected to a synchronized carrier source (20) and also comprises means for digital-to-analog conversion (24).

TL;DR: In this paper, a physically compact, wideband signal activity identification, demodulation and characterization, and direction finding device incorporates multiple and cascadable digital signal processing modules operating in asynchronous real time.
Abstract: A physically compact, wideband signal activity identification, demodulation and characterization, and direction finding device incorporates multiple and cascadable digital signal processing modules operating in asynchronous real time. The digital signal processing modules include a device for data buffering, a device for digital signal processing (DSP), and a device for high-speed data routing. The module device for data buffering is composed of, among other memory devices, a First In Tap Out (FITO) data buffer that may be accessed at any point for delay or faster than real time resynchronization by the DSP module device. The module device for digital signal processing function incorporates a general purpose digital processor for respective module calculation of overlapped hyperchannelization Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT). Hyperchannels may be combine in a flexible manner to tailor channel bandwidth for optimum signal spectral detection of signal activity, synthesis filter and tuning, demodulation and recognition, and direction finding. The module device for high-speed data routing is composed of one-to-one, one-to-many, or many-to-one digital data routing functions, and allows flexible ordering of digital signal processing modules.

TL;DR: In this article, a system for linearizing the output of a high power amplifier (HPA) designed to transmit an RF modulated signal includes in its transmit section a digital up-converter for processing baseband input signals and generating a desired digital RF waveform, T(s).
Abstract: A system for linearizing the output of a high power amplifier (HPA) designed to transmit an RF modulated signal includes in its transmit section a digital up-converter for processing baseband input signals and generating a desired digital RF waveform, T(s). The desired digital RF waveform T(s) is then fed to a digital predistorter circuit for producing a predistorted digital RF waveform P(s)T(s) which, as modified, may be applied via a high sampling speed high linearity digital to analog converter to the high power amplifier (HPA) to produce an output signal which is a linear function of the baseband input signal. The digital predistorter circuit may be of the adaptive type or of the predictive type. Circuits embodying the invention may include encoding circuitry for converting multi-bit signals to a serial stream of single-bit pulses for enabling simplification in the digital to analog conversion. In accordance with the invention, corrections for non-linearity of the HPA may be made directly on the RF waveform using ultra-high speed superconducting electronics (SCE) and decreasing the time delay between sensing a transmitted signal and generating a correcting (linearizing) signal.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a device for detecting short burst errors, where the first signal input is configured to receive a first signal, and the second signal output is generated by a logic output gate.
Abstract: The present invention is a device for detecting short burst errors. The device includes a first signal input, wherein the first signal input is configured to receive a first signal. The device includes a second signal input, wherein the second signal input is configured to receive a second signal. The device includes a logic gate, wherein the logic gate is operable for receiving the first signal vial the first signal input, receiving the second signal via the second signal input, and generating a logic output gate signal based on the received first signal and the second signal. Furthermore, the device includes a filter, wherein the filter is configured for receiving the logic output gate signal from the logic gate and generates a filter output signal based upon the received logic output gate signal, wherein the filter output signal is operable for flagging errors.
