Abstract: Many people in today's society expect little more from student-athletes than dunks and touchdowns. The same people often criticise universities for producing students who are better players than readers. It's a dilemma with both students and institutions caught in the middle. Major Violation explores academic characteristics of the student-athlete, universities' treatment of student-athletes, and society's role in the academic-athletic dilemma.
